There has been nothing I've thrown at this router that it hasn't eaten up.
To have a cordless 1/2" router is a serious step up.

Great tool
I’ve had this tool over a year now and have put it through a lot. I do a lot of trim work and often times we have to make custom pieces. Having the adaptability between 1/2in and 1/4 is nice and plenty of power to do the tasks I need. Not having a cord in the way when making tedious cuts and passes is awesome. Battery lasts a good amount too.

Powerful Router!
I am so impressed every time I use this router! The feel of it in my hands is amazing. From the ergonomics to the balance and ability to control the unit.
I first had doubts, but not for long. I have used this to route everything from yellow pine to hickory and the router keeps on delivering through them all.
This router while cutting through hickory, was just impressive. My corded router from another competitor is a 3 hp version, and it bogs down at times. Not this Metabo. This is a bad boy.... I love it! When my buddies that have never seen it come by, I have to show them. They are all impressed.
I use the 36 volt battery and this thing last a long time through many, many board feet of routing everything from trim to delicate jobs.
I can't wait to get the smaller palm router to try and to use it extensively. Thanks Metabo hpt!

expensive but a great tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] expensive $400 for a plunge router plus another $100 for the AC adpter but this is a really nice tool. it is hands down the strongest cordless router I ever used. milwuakee just released on but you should buy this instead because the batteries are much more reasonably priced from metabo and this thing will kill the 8ah / 4ah in less than 20 min in my experience.

Plenty of power versus corded routers
We are very impressed with the Metabo HPT M3612DA router. It has become our primary router for cutting operations in our manufacturing process. Our corded routers are now sitting on the shelf.
We cut Lexan sheet material into pieces that are 200-400” long x 20-40” wide. We need to make several cuts on a single piece of material to produce a product that is straight and dimensionally correct. We typically make 20 or more 30 foot long cuts in a single shift.
Some of our observations are:
1. The battery life is very good! We can cut material for up to two hours on a single battery charge. With two batteries on hand, we never have to stop cutting due to a discharged battery.
2. This router has plenty of power for our needs. We use a 3/8” diameter, 2 flute, carbide, flush trim router bit to make the cuts. This router never stalls or overloads.
3. This router is lighter than we expected based on the advertising pictures. It is easy to handle and operate. The power switch being a trigger switch on the handle works well for us.
4. The only real complaint that the operators have is that it is difficult to check the battery level when the battery is installed on the router. The battery indicator faces the router base, and it is difficult to get your fingers in the space to press the indicator button.
Overall, we are very impressed with this router.
