Aren't the zinc oxide fumes of heated galvanized steel very toxic, making this product very dangerous? (Rhetorical question)

What is the thinkness of the metal? What temperature for both inside the pit and climate can it endure?
Hello Hazelnut, thank you for this question! This fire ring is .8mm thick. This fire ring is designed to endure the hottest temperatures that can be reached by burning seasoned hardwood or fire logs. We don’t recommend using anything except seasoned hard wood or fire logs with this fire ring. If you need additional assistance or information we are happy to help! Just reach out by phone at 877-447-4768 or email here: http://www.ghpgroupinc.com/BTUs.html - GHP Group Customer Support

Can the ring be cut down to make a smaller diameter?
I think the diameter can be reduced from 36" to 31". No cutting, just drilling !! Of course, the warranty would be void and you do so at your own risk. You will need another set of nuts, bolts and washers, that match the ones provided. I have not done this ..... So, hypothetically, let try this, one panel at a time: Drill another set of holes that match the height, and are 4" into the ring (center to center; horizontally) (holes are same diameter). Use the panel that you will be attaching as the template. Don't forget to drill the holes on the panel you are attaching. Bolt the two panels together. Repeat for each panel until you have added the new holes to each panel. Connecting the last panel is the hard part as you have to force the two ends together. Make sure that the holes are drilled into each panel before you try to compress the ring. I haven't done this yet, but I'm going to try using at least two ratchet straps wrapped around the circumference of the ring. Ratcheting should slowly bring the panels together.
....... All measurements are rounded and approximate. The 36” diameter has a circumference of 113". A ring with a 31" diameter has a circumference of 97.3". The difference in circumference is approx 15.7". The ¼ panel of the larger ring is 28.25”. The ¼ panel of the smaller ring is 24.25” (approximately). Each smaller panel is 4” shorter. That's why you drill the new holes, 4" from the existing holes. (overlapping the ends of two panels 4” only shortens the length by 2”… but you do this on both ends of the panel, for a net shortening of 4”) You now have a new circumference that will closely match the 31” diameter ring once the last two pieces are joined together. ....".pizza ??. Doesn't galvanized metal give off toxic fumes when burned?
Hello Andy12345, galvanized metal does not become toxic at any temperature, what does happen at the vaporization temperature of zinc (about 1600 ° F) is that the metal turns to a gas. With enough ventilation (outside) there is no cause for concern! -GHP Group Customer Support

Great product! Very satisfied.
Excellent!
Only thing I think is missing is some holes on the side to let the air get in.
I had to drill a few.

Zinc fumes
Zinc fumes are set free when galvanised steel is heated. These fumes are very toxic to breathe. Deposits of zinc from the fumes accumulate in the food. ... In long-term, continuous exposure, the recommended maximum temperature for hot-dip galvanized steel is 392 F (200 C), according to the American Galvanizers Association.

Awesome Firepit!
Purchased for our Southern Gulf Island Property. Installed it last week. Levelled it. Placed random rocks around the perimeter outside for stability and looks. First fire perfect. Depth allowed the fire to take hold protecting it from the wind. I was burning summer land cleanup stuff and the containment feature allowed the fire to be controlled, and burned beautifully. Five hours of burning. Pit initiated. Over the moon pleased. It will be a gem for a simple recreational fire with the family also.

Great size and quality!
Received this a few weeks ago, really sturdy feeling fire ring that I sunk into the ground about 4 inches, had my first fire in it and not surprisingly, worked well, good size for a decent fire, will be putting stones around the pit in the warmer weather but functional as is for now
