Cool effect but fixed default color
I like the effect it does behind the TV. Personnally, I like the dark blue effect. The strip is powered from the TV's USB port which make the strip light up automatically when the TV is turned on and shut off when the TV is shut off (unless your TV keeps the USB power on even when off).
A drawback is that the default color is red. So everytime I turn on the TV, I have to reach for the (yet another) remote and set the color to blue. I wish the strip would remember the color it was on before being powered off.

I am SO happy I didn’t listen to the bad reviews & gave these lights a chance. Some people were saying they hate these lights because the lights go off when the tv is powered off. That’s not the case for mine. It may have to do with the type of tv you have. I have the Rokue Smart TV and it’s amazing paired with these lights! I’m extremely happy! There is no app, you just control the lights and the power using the remote that comes in the box. Batteries included! The colors cannot be dimmed but you have the option for STROBE, FLASH, SMOOTH, or FADE. I wish you could dim the colored lights but you can only dim the WHITE light. So I believe they should change the description and the front of the box from “Dimmable lights” to “color changing lights - non dimmable colored lights - white lights can be dimmed” but summarized of course. Overall I absolutely love these lights. I will admit I had some trouble installing them myself but it’s also my first time dealing with light strips. I did not use the tape on the back on the lights. I got my own clips and used the ones included in the box as well and stuck those around my tv incase I ever wanted to take the lights off or have someone set them up a little better on the back of my tv. But honestly they look amazing how I have them, I just made sure ti start at the USB entrance to my tv so I could make sure it plugged in and worked and also makes sure that you don’t start at the wrong end and have your USB on the opposite side of where it needs to be plugged in! I highly recommend these gorgeous lights!! I do wish they had more options for colors, like it would be awesome to have the rainbow on screen and scroll to your own color palette you like instead of only being able to choose from 8 colors & 9 if you include the white. But no matter what you can’t complain because these are awesome still for the price and the fact that they add that extra “OOMPH” in my bedroom! Perfection!!!!

These lights are haunted
I've had these lights installed on multiple TVs in my house and a couple of them seem to be haunted - turning on and off by themselves at random times while the TV is off. The one in my bedroom is particularly apt to do this even in the middle of the night when no one is using electronic devices.
