Poor design.
Save yourself the trouble and buy the 14' or the 16' pruner instead. The design of both the saw and pruner setup is sub par. Lets start with the pruner. First, the blade is not sharp making if difficult to cut even small branches. Second, the way the blade interacts with the handle to cut branches leaves behind at least a 1/2" nub on the trunk. Both the 14' and 16' models allow you to cut flush. Next let's talk about the saw. It seems to be nice and sharp at first. But when cutting a limb, the teeth of the saw get clogged with wood fiber, causing me to stop, remove the blade form the cut, manually remove the fiber from the blade with my fingers, then return the blade back to the tree to resume cutting. Not efficient at all. The handle is nice and locks securely, but everything at the business end needs a redesign.

Broke on first use
I used it one time and the cutting blade got jammed. There are not instructions how to fix this. There isn’t even a YouTube video.

I find this a good product
I have only used this for about 1 hour so far and it is far superior to a comparable product I bought for a second home in Maine. The double locking mechanism for the extension is excellent (a neighbor's pole cutter rotates when you try to cut which I why I bought this one), The metal is strong (versus the one I have in Maine where the apparatus that rests on the branch is die cast metal and snapped the first time I used it -- the hardware store there replaced it).
I've restrung the rope so it doesn't rub against the metal and won't fray -- if it ever did rub against the metal of the pole in the first place. I don't recall.
I removed the saw when I did the restringing and used the loper / cutter without refitting the saw. The wing nut fell off and I can't find a replacement as my hardware store doesn't have wing nuts with the same threading though they seem to have one with the same diameter. I've requested replacement wing nuts from Fiskars and will see what happens.

Bought as a gift for husband. Used right out of package. On the first usage the rope began to shred. Poor quality.

Don't buy these
I am a gardener and have used a lot of pole pruners. I wonder if these were even field tested. The pole bends easily, and therefore can't cut even very small diameter branches when it is extended. The rope always rubs on itself and on the pulley and creates resistance. Overall, just bad design.

Works so well!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve used this extendable pole saw multiple times. We’ve used it to trim up trees after a storm. It helped us get down branches that had broken, but not all the way. We’ve also used it to help cut out some roots from a stump. It works great and we were so glad we had it.
