Good idea, junk product
I purchased this to split fir rounds. The metal is too soft to be of use. The wedge bent after the first use.

this is the only wedge I have been able to split tough knotty firewood. Have split 30" diameter chunks.

A réussi là où les autres ont échoué
Le Torpedo de Garant est le seul outil avec lequel j'ai réussi à fendre de très larges bûches de frêne (dont certaines étaient près de 36 pouces de diamètre). Je recommande tout de même de laisser vieillir le bois de cette dimension au moins 12 mois au préalable .

I honestly liked it and thought it was an awesome product but after very little use, it just snaped. the lower quarter/third stayed in the log and the rest fell to the ground. surely I must've hit it wrong but come on. for a 40$ piece of metal I expected it to be a little more rugged.

Not a Torpedo, but a dud!
I purchased this thinking it’s a great tool since Garant is a well known brand. I was wrong. First of all, the metal they use for this is a more mailable steel. I dropped it a couple of times and my patio stones chipped it. I took a hammer to it in the side and it dented. Is that normal? I pounded my sledgehammer and the hammer didn’t even scratch it. Second, the grooves on the wood splitter smoothed out. How’s this even possible? It’s steel going into wood. I thought it was a “made in China” dud, but this was a “Made in india” dud. Don’t waste your money! Buy yourself a Axe Maul and save yourself $40.
