Doesn't work out of the box DO NOT BUY
I opened it, put the battery in and it won't calibrate. The customer service bot doesn't work either. Apparently it's not just this stud finder that's trash, it's the craftsman experience. First and last time buying craftsman.

Inconsistent, calibrates infrequently
Nearly all of the time both lights are on hence no calibration. In those rare events when calibration away from a stud is achieved, it seems to work but on the next pass fails. It's the worst Craftsman product I've owned.

Inconsistent sensing
The stud finder fails to find studs from previous tenet’s markings, but also is inconsistent and would not always beep at the same location that it previously beeped on. Would not recommend.

Worked Once
Like many I'm seeing here, the stud finder worked fine the first time I used it, then stopped working. It falsely IDs studs, and the beep and lights fade quickly, even after putting in a brand new battery.

Only worked the first time I used it
Just went to use it and it beeps (and the red light comes on) continuously as soon as I place it anywhere on the wall. I replaced the battery and nothing changed, it still beeps and lights up non-stop. It’s completely worthless now.

DO NOT BUY
As of today there are 100 bad reviews vs. 49 good. I'm guessing most of the 49 used it right after purchase then wrote the review. I might have done the same since it worked the first time but never again. Tried to use it several weeks later and it beeps anywhere including walls where it worked before. Have since changed batteries - nothing but beep. Pure junk. Shows you what's become of Craftsman.

Doesn’t work at all
Fresh out of the package from Lowes, new battery, doesn’t matter where you put it on wall, steady beep and both lights, never clears. I then changed the battery, same thing. It doesn’t work period. Every place is closed now and I have to drill so I’m on my own. Garbage, won’t calibrate on plaster wall, sheet rock wall, or wood panel wall. Old 30 year old one works some. This is garbage.

Questionable engineering
There is no off switch, nor is there any discussion in the user manual about how to turn it off. I can't even find any indication on-line about how to turn it off. Is that too obvious for words? Why? Has no one at Craftsman ever thought to turn it off? Are you just supposed to pull the battery out? If so, how long is the battery connection likely to keep working if you have to pull the battery out to turn it off?
