We have several of thee throughout our house and they do keep the house at a comfortable humidity during winter. However, even municipal water has minerals content and everything gets covered with a fine sticky, grey dust residue (common with ultrasonic humidifiers, regardless of manufacture) This dust is terrible for forced-air furnaces as it quickly plugs up the return air filter triggering error codes and low-air flow warnings. This reduces fan speed, heat output and if unattended to, will potentially kill the fan or heat exchanger. We're going back to a water-reservoir, drum-type humidifier.
