Description
The 3M Marine adhesive sealant is ideal for boats, from fiberglass deck to fiberglass hull, wood to fiberglass, portholes and deck fittings, under mouldings, hull seams above and below water line. It can also be applied on trunk joints, between struts and planking, for stern joints, deck-house etc. The adhesive sealant effectively absorbs stress caused by shock, vibration, swelling or shrinking. It possesses an excellent resistance to weathering and salt water. Finally, it becomes tack-free in 48 hours and provides a fast cure in an hour. It is easy to apply with a manual caulking gun. It does not flow in vertical or horizontal seams.

Sponge in a tube
Bought this product figuring it formed a solid compound when cured. Bumps over screws remained "springy" after cure. Definitely not Shore A 60 hardness. "Autopsied" one of the bumps and it was full of air pockets. Evidently the product outgasses as it cures and traps the gas under the surface skin. My goal was a solid compound like cured silicone caulking, not a tough skinned sponge.

Underwater seal
Formed a seal between swimming pool under water light electrical cable and metal container. Seal was in perfect condition 10 years later when the assembly had to be removed. The pool installer was amazed.
