Description
The First Alert is a Z-Wave protocol smoke and carbon monoxide combination alarm. This battery operated alarm will operate with 3rd party, certified Z-Wave devices enabled with the First Alert protocol and the basic command class required by all Z-Wave devices. This fire and CO detector is not compatible with Onelink. It features a photoelectric sensor that detects the smoke most commonly produced by smoldering fires, providing sensitive detection while minimizing false alarms. The advanced electrochemical CO sensor detects carbon monoxide. Unique alarm sounds and indicator lights on the face of the detector distinguish a smoke warning from a carbon monoxide warning. Battery Operated for Convenience. The battery operated combination smoke and CO alarm installs in minutes. The detector requires two AA batteries, and features a chirp and indicator light to let you know when they need replacing. The smoke and carbon monoxide alarm mounts easily to a ceiling or wall, and comes with pins to secure alarm to the base to prevent tampering.The integrated wireless alarm system sends you mobile alerts and emails when used with a compatible system, so you're aware of dangers after the alarm is activated, whether you're home or away. The combination fire and CO detector is also compatible with 3rd party, certified Z-Wave devices with the First Alert protocol.

Trio of Alarms
We purchased a trio of these alarms to replace the three we first installed 8 years ago. Fortunately, the new models are exactly the same size and fit into the existing brackets in our home. The trio communicates with each other when an alarm is set off in any level of the home.

Safety First Alert
Excellent product which is easy to link into the Ring Alarm system. Ring Canada does not offer a dedicated smoke and Monoxide detector. Ring's product only monitors third-party smoke alarms. The First Alert has Z wave technology that is approved by, and directly links to, Rings Alarm system. I believe this alarm may only be available at Rona. It can be ordered online from US suppliers but this is significantly more expensive option.

Works great!!!
I bought 3 First Alert Smart Smoke and CO Detectors about a month ago and they’ve been working well since then. My wife tested one of them out while browning a pot roast and it worked great. I connected all 3 detectors up to my Aeotec Smart Home Hub with SmartThings. It was a little tricky but it’s working well through my iPhone.

Great detector but ONLY if you have a Ring device
Purchased on sale and added to my Ring Alarm system device manager. The Rona website description and picture do not match the product in the package. It suggests this is an INTERCONNECTED device but it's NOT. The term INTERCONNECTED is when multiple smoke detectors all sound the alarm when one device is triggered. THIS IS NOT THE CASE on this device. If that's what you want/need then go with Model #1039823.
In short, I really like the two units I purchased. It includes CO2 along with Smoke. Yes I would recommend this for anyone with a Ring Alarm system

2 In 1 alarm with a 10 year warranty
I have had this installed for about a month and so far it has had no false alarms. I placed it on a wall 11 inches below the ceiling. There is 3 different symbols on the smoke detector: one for carbon monoxide, one for smoke, and one showing the wireless symbol. The alarm flashes a green light every so often which isn't too bright.
The warranty process states that if 30 days have passed since you bought it and if it is malfunctioning, you need to ship it to them and you must pay the costs for shipping so they can take a look at it. They will send you a new one for free if they find that it is indeed malfunctioning.
It would probably be better to just go to Rona and try and do the warranty process there without paying for the shipping if anything does indeed go wrong.
I will update and see if anything goes wrong with this detector.
