Wring colour in the can
I purchased 2 cans of royal walnut to match the existing woodwork in my century home. Based on the sample board for oak , toyal walnut was my best match. Since the baseboards were lifted for new flooring they were stripped down and stained with royal walnut. I was very disappointed. The colour was more like natural oak. I returned the unopened can and baught the second closest colour for the door trim.
I sanded only enough to rough up the serface and applied the new colour with success.
The application was easy and it looks good. Will buy more to finish the house.
Not sure what to do with the opened can.
