Alaterre MOD White and Natural Pine 5-Drawer Standard Chest is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has been perfect for my girls' room. The drawers easily slide open and shut. They are also very spacious. My 2 girls have alot of clothes so to say this has been helpful would be an understatement. The feel of it is smooth. It's sturdy and well-built. This is great for a kids' bedroom.

Assembly was simple with the easy to follow instructions. The drawers of the chest glide easily and effortlessly in and out. I love the modern design of the chest and the classic white color which goes very well with the room it’s in. The material is of good quality and not cheaply made. The drawers are spacious and hold a lot of clothing. I really love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but Take a Long Time to Assemble [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Packaging: The Mod drawer chest comes in two boxes. One is 75 pounds and the other is 55 pounds, so they are pretty heavy. The cardboard boxes are glued shut really well and were able to be shipped from across the country without opening up. It actually took a lot of effort to open the boxes because they were so well glued shut. All the contents were well packaged and protected. Unfortunately, there was a lot of foam that filled up an entire garbage bag when I went to dispose of it. All the hardware is packaged in two smaller boxes, so it was easy to find. There were no missing or damaged pieces. The instructions included were in a multi-page paper booklet that contained mostly diagrams and was easy to locate at the top of one box. Assembly: The included instructions estimate that this piece of furniture should take 2 people about 1 hour to assemble. I did this myself and it took me over 9 hours to assemble and I used power tools for 75% of the project. If I had continued to use a regular hand screw driver, it would have taken me more time. Some of the assembly is really tedious and time consuming. For example, the rails are all taped together in pairs. Each pair needs to be separated and then the half that is attached to the drawers have to be relabeled so it doesn’t become confusing later. Some steps require screwing in 40 screws and there are about 17 total steps. Precision and double checking angles is required when assembling the drawers or there will be weird gaps and won’t fit on the tracks. The most tedious step was probably when assembling the base of the dresser. It involves screwing in hex head screws with the included hex key in a corner, so you cannot just keep rotating it. I had to rotate it a little and then lift it up and repeat. That alone took me 1 hour due to the angles and how tight some of the screws were. The instructions are ok if you take the time to compare every predrilled hole and take care to look at what they label with a caution symbol. All the pieces and tools are pretty good in terms of being as how they should be. The only issue I experienced was that two of the drawer bottom pieces were too wide. This prevented the ability to install the rails so they were flush with the side of the drawer. This made it slightly too wide to fit into the chest and into the rails. I had to cut off a part of the bottom pieces in order to assemble the drawers correctly but I was just glad that it was an easy fix and wasn’t a thicker piece of MDF. There are a ton of different screws and hardware. They do not include spares, so be very careful to not lose any. Everything is labeled and easy to identify using the diagrams and labels. Quality: Most of the piece is made of MDF or man made composites. The real wood parts are the sides and backs of the drawers as well as the base. All the wood pieces seem to be relatively well sanded. The lacquered pieces are pretty flawless. Aside from the bottom of the drawers, all the wood and MDF are thick and good quality. I was surprised that even the back of the chest has a thick piece of material, which often is just a thin cardboard in other flat box furniture. I liked that there wasn’t much off gassing or weird smells when I opened the boxes. The chest feels solid and there wasn’t any wiggling after assembled. Overall, this is a huge pain and time commitment to assemble but it is a good piece of flat box furniture if you are willing to put it together. I was surprised that the drawers were a lot shorter in depth than the depth of the dresser but that might be a safety design. It does look aesthetically nice and modern. I am not a fan of the look of the drawer knobs but those can be easily changed out. I would recommend this piece if you like the style and the price point. I wouldn’t recommend it if you cannot commit many hours to assembling or if you are not detail oriented or somewhat handy at putting together flat box furniture.
