Is this machine the same thing as an aerator???

No. This machine is a dethatcher, removing thatch in lawn. Aeration is removing plugs (cores) about 2-3inches depth of the soil. So, I usually mow as low as possible, detchatch, then core aerate for topdressing and /or overseeding.

Is there a height adjustment on this model? Cannot seem to change it from default depth.

No. there is no adjustment on this model. You can't change it from the default setting.

How long is the cord on this dethatcher?

Hello AC721, The dethatcher cord is approximately 12 inches long. Please note an extension cord (not included) will be required to run this unit.

not on the one i bought in canada at lowes yesterday. on the plus side though it is an excellent machine.amazing how much dead grass it picks out. be prepared for a workout on large areas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tapperlite from Still going strong after 5 years I bought the Greenworks Dethatcher in 2019 and have used it once a year on my 8,000 sq ft lawn. The first few years I would use it on the shallow setting, and have adjusted it to the deepest setting for the past 2 years. It has really made a difference in my lawn's heath, and I now have to rake up about half as much thatch compared to what was dethatched the first few years. After 5 years now, it's time to replace the tines. Love this dethatcher.

I was hoping the tines would not damage the ground Worst of all, customer service would not let me return it since the package had been opened.

Rated 1 out of 5 by rajawagner from died after 1 use-replacement sent is missing parts I bought this and after the first use the motor quit. Greenworks was great and sent a new unit out. The new unit was missing parts, one screw that I couldn't find at a hardware store. I waited on hold for over an hour, explained what I needed, received the replacement parts which were incorrect, they sent bolts. Now I will need to sit on hold for another hour to get the correct screws???

Looking for a realistically priced dethatcher to be able to do yearly work not being done very well by the pull along attachment to my lawn tractor. This does do a decent job. Instruction manual leaves out a few items: 1. How to install the cable clips. 2. Need to thread the cord retainer before attaching the Lower Handle. The unit turned up a lot of thatch on the first patch of 10' x 10'. Very impressed. The extension cord retainer is a good idea, but turns become difficult with it on the lower handle. I moved it to the center of the upper handle and for me it is an improvement. Points to Greenwork for including another set of tines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sbaker27 from Love my new detacher! This dethatcher works terrific on my zoysia grass, removing a huge amount of dead thatch without hurting the green grass at all. Just be sure to follow the instructions’ warning not to pull the detacher backwards while running, as that will create a bald spot. Other than that, works great and easy to operate.
