Unusable about two and a half years
I came back from a week vacation to find this fridge running but very hot in the inside. I had to throw out everything. Repairman came and it is the compressor, so it will cost as much to fix it as it would to just purchase a new one. This should not happen with a refrigerator that is not even three years old. And, of course, it is no longer under warranty because manufacturers do not want to give more than a one year warranty. Due to size constraints, I am unable to buy a fridge from a more reliable company, although I actually though a basic Whirlpool would be reliable. My mistake. I did really like it before this happened - no issues with the fridge or freezer section.

WHIRLPOOL Model WRT134TFDW
Replace my old whirlpool (of 15 years) with this new energy efficient model in April 2015. It worked very well for 2 years until the freezer section wasn't as efficient as when new.
Turned the Temperature knob inside the refrigerator to MAX and the air flow knob inside the freezer to MAX. Was careful not to block the air vents. BUT - Ice Cream remained very soft. Frozen Pizza Dough remained soft, etc.
The Refrigerator works fine, but not the freezer. Began failing about 2 months after the 2 YEAR Warranty ended.

Useless
I bought this a few years ago, the price was right we were on a tight budget. Although it was bottom of line Whirlpool we had had a Whirpool washing machine for years in our previous house with no issues whatsoever so felt confident buying the same brand. Like "Tra" in their review, it builds up huge amounts of ice in the freezer and leaks water into the fridge. Even at the lowest setting it will sometimes freeze what's in the fridge. I just finished defrosting this self-defrosting fridge for the 2nd time in maybe a month or month and a half. I had seen the ice building up but today when I opened the fridge there was a lot of water and the top shelf was forming ice.

Died quickly
We bought this based on reviews and reputation of Whirlpool. Had this fridge 2.5 yrs and tried to repair 3 times. Keeps building up massive frost blocks in freezer and won't stay cold in refrigerator compartment. Can't afford repair every few months. Bummer.

VERY happy with my new Refrigerator
I didn't buy this refrigerator....I was lucky enough to receive it through Edison's Energy Saving program. It was a lifesaver as my old frig had been around for quite a few years. I am very happy with it. Only suggestion I would make is to make the bottom shelf in the door wider, as I can't get a six-pack of cola bottles in there; just a couple more inches would have been great. But otherwise, I'm thrilled with it. It has a much larger freezer than my previous frig, which is important to me. All in all, I love it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Freezer Issues
We have had this fridge now for almost 4 years. Last year the freezer had stopped working and we had to throw nearly everything away. Flash forward about 4 months, the freezer stopped again. Now this week, for the THIRD time in one year, the freezer has stopped. I do not recommend this fridge at ALL and am disappointed as it looks like other customers have had the same problem.

Whirlpool Refrigerator
I purchased this refrigerator as a back up to my primary one in my kitchen. Due to COVID-19 it seems that my large refrigerator and freezer does not have the storage capacity needed so I looked at freezers, but they are all on backorder until the end of the summer. My friend suggested using a refrigerator with a good size freezer. The whirlpool fit the bill as I did not want to spend that much on it. It has met my need with the exception of the freezer. For some reason the ice-cream is not freezing even though I have it at the highest level. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Overall Happy, but
Received the Refrigerator about 3 weeks ago. Looks great, Size is perfect, but almost 2 weeks ago it started to make a noise. If you put your finger on the corner of either door it will stop for maybe 30 seconds after you take your had away and then start back up while the motor is running. Have not been able to get someone out to look at it, yet. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
