Horrible would not buy again
The amount of plastic in this “soil” is horrible. I can’t believe they would consider it soil. Which of course you would ever know until you dump out the entire bag (can’t return it after that...). After purchasing 10bags to fill garden boxes it was in the last few that I started to really notice the plastics. I would never ever buy this to grow food in, thank god my beds are for flowers but still. Terrible product, don’t even consider it even for the price. I see that others had the same issue, take it from us. BUY OTHER SOIL.

Smells awful
I bought 7 bags of this soil today because it was on sale and quickly dumped it into my new flower garden boxes (full of perrenials). After I was done I noticed my whole yard smelled horrible, I can't quite describe the smell but it's most certainly not your typical garden soil smell more like a smell that is similar to feces and composte combined. We are trying to sell our house and bought this soil to help spruce up our curb appeal and now everything stinks, I am praying we don't get a house showing in the next while because my gardens are right at the entrance to my home where it smells the worst. I am so disappointed.

Horrible
I bought this a week ago to put in my green house. Opened a few bags and was very disappointed. It stunk to high heaven as if it was half decomposed and it was very mulchy. Also started burning my cucumber plants with this stuff. I have heard it could even be solidified sewage sludge. Horrible stuff that I will never buy again. Will opt for promix and ad properly composted manure to the mix. Definitely get much more of your money's worth going that way instead of this rubbish.

Bad smell!!
I bought a few bags of this stuff thinking it was a good deal since it was on sale for the 50L size.
Well I knew I got ripped off when I opened the bag and this really strong smell of sewage spilled out!
I thought maybe it’s just this bag but I opened another one and sure enough same thing. I heard other reviews saying the same thing so not sure what is in this stuff. When it dries it’s rock hard and very difficult to work with even in the garden.
I checked to see who makes it and sure enough it’s Scotts. I had the same problem with Miracle gro garden soil but the smell wasn’t as bad and texture was a bit better.
I would avoid this stuff and pick up some PROMIX instead. Cost more but you get what you pay for at least.

Questionable soil
This "soil" had an unpleasant smell to it and it was an unhealthy grey colour. I won't be buying it again.

Raw compost
The compost in the soil is not fully composted. It has a strong smell and with ambient temperatures of 7C overnight, the bag still has an internal temperature of 30C the next morning... it's still composting in the bag! The smell is kind of like an outhouse combined with Creosote. I regret buying 32 bags and paying for them to be delivered! I would recommend letting the soil compost for a year before using it. I did not, however, find any plastic in mine unlike some of the other reviewers.

Worst quality soil. Do not use!
I bought this soil at the Rona in Coquitlam a week ago and was shocked to see the amount of plastic and debris that was mixed with the soil. This is not garden quality soil, it was disgusting and I'll be taking it back.

Killed 9 of my healthy new plants from Lowe's
The bag was full of some white dots which first I thought they were probably fungus but later when I re-potted my plants and all of their roots got rotten with these white dots and pots were full of gnats I realized these were gnats eggs. The sad thing is, all those plants(3 Monstera Deliciousa, 3 Crotons and 4 Variegated curly English Ivy) that I bought from Lowe's were healthy and blooming when I purchased them and by repotting with this supposedly organic soil, I killed them! Only 1 Monstera that I didn't repotted is still alive, that's how I know it was the soil's problem. So unhappy about this, can't return the soil nor the plants! Lost almost $100 dollar on plants because of this soil. I didn't use it any more (when I opened it a week later, it was full of huge gnats and small black insects! )
