Disappointed
We purchased a 36 inch Profile induction 3.5 years ago.
About a month ago the center burner started working only half, then another burner gives only partial cooking ability and then the two left burners brought up an error message and will not work. After two visits the company we bought it from decided that they would offer a buy out instead of fixing and told us that if we decide to fix it, it probably will break again and we should take the buyout, which only amounts to less than half of a new purchase price.
So yes, we are very disappointed, but want to add we absolutely loved the cook top, but wish it would of lasted. Now what to do?

Great at first...
This cooktop looks beautiful and was great at first. After only a few days three out of five burners do not work. After turning them on, the burners quickly shut off automatically. I can only use two burners on the left side which is very frustrating considering the price. Now I unfortunately have to wait for a GE service technician to come out which shouldn't be the case for an appliance of this price. I am not sure if this is an issue with GE's induction cooktop or appliances in general, but hopefully the former since I also bought their microwave/oven wall combination which was even more expensive.

Excellent Cooktop for the Money
We were very undecided about installing a newer technology cooktop since we’ve always cooked with electrical resistance burners. We didn’t know if any of our cookware would be compatible. It turns out that we were able to continue using 90% of the cookware we had on hand. The almost instant heat is just as advertised. We love that there is no burned on mess when pots boil over.
The reason for a “4” rating vs “5” is that occasionally a burner will turn itself off for no reason. When this happens, we are able to turn it right back on and continue the cooking process with no problem. However, this malfunction does hint that reliability could be an issue in the future.

Not at All a Reliable Cooktop!
Bought the 36" GE Profile Model PHP9036DJBB induction cooktop as part of our "down to the studs" kitchen remodel in 2015. The unit worked fine until January 2018 when 3 of the burners went tango-uniform, leaving only the left two burners working (as others have reported in their reviews). The GE Service technician made a total of four visits to the house, replacing initially the three burners/components that stopped working, then after that didn't work, he continued replacing components until he finally concluded that the cooktop was unrepairable! And the kicker? According to the technician, GE couldn't (or wouldn't) simple take an entirely new/complete unit and drop it in the hole in our granite countertop! We like GE Profile appliances, but wouldn't recommend this induction cooktop to anyone based on GE's inability to isolate/repair the problem(s).

MIxed review
This is an amazing cooktop when it works. It heats up quickly, cools down quickly - fantastic! However I just registered my SECOND one with GE because 3 out of 5 burners stopped working after only 17 months!! I heard a loud POP and that was that. Luckily I purchased a warranty. The warranty company chose to purchase us a new cooktop rather than fix the broken one. An interesting choice that I don't totally understand. I am concerned that our new second cooktop will go POP in 17 months and I will be out a cooktop and $1500. So....GREAT cooktop. Buy a warranty for sure. GE - please fix this issue! You have an amazing product here but it needs to last many years for the cost!

Love to cook with Induction!
We purchased the first induction 8 years ago and just will not go back to electric or gas!! It's so impressive! It goes on and it's HOT, off is OFF. Isn't that the way cooking should be? This is the next generation as the first one went out on us 3x Buy the extended warranty, for sure, for sure. DO not hesitate! It has been worth it 3 times over. Once you learn how to cook with induction heat, you honestly will never want to go back to any other way! We love our 5 top burner and talk about clean? It's simple. Our 8 year old stove looked new and we cook every night! Love it, just hope this one lasts more than a few years before going out.

Sleek design
Besides the convenience of induction heat, which is instant and very even, I love the sleek design. The controls are easy to use. The lock is a great feature. It prevents the stove from reacting when I clean it. When I purchased the stove I was prepared to get rid of some of my non-magnetic pots, but found on line special stainless steel plates designed to be used under the pot. With this adaption any pot will work just perfectly. In addition, I found out that I can protect the stove from scratching if I use a silicon pad under the pot. I'm so pleased, I can still use my old fashion, rough bottom cast iron pans and not worry about damaging the surface.

Not worth buying
I bought a GE cook top and 3 GE dishwashers for a new home. A year and a half later and several trips out by a service guy we're ready to just throw them all away and switch them out with a different brand. The service guy said the control unit is bad on the cook top and it's not worth fixing. The dishwashers have had multiple problems. Once we fix one thing something else breaks.
