PerforMAX Leaks From Day 1
We recently had to replace the valve in two toilets and upgraded to the PerforMAX from the prior Fluidmaster valve that is the next one down in price. From Day 1 both of the new valves have leaked from under the blue top; one every few hours and one every half hour. The valve will seem OK then water will drip for a few seconds from under the blue lid then your water will turn on and off for a few seconds to refill what was leaked. Buy the next level down on the fluidmaster as that one lasted us many years. We now have to take time soon to replace the new PerforMAXs we bought that are junk.

BEWARE!
Fluidmaster took a great toilet valve and let their "value" engineers turn it into a piece of junk! I bought this to replace a 20 year old FM valve of the same basic design. The only good thing that I have to say is it was easy to install. I salvaged the old column lock-ring because the new one supplied was flimsy. The valve has been installed for 3-4 weeks now, and in that time, the float has hung up at least 4-5 times and either won't refill or overfills the tank. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt/packaging so I can't return it. Just bought the Korky to try that one instead. Will write a review in 3-4 weeks.

Come back and tighten it again in an hour!
This product so far works well. However, the seal seems to loosen after the first tightening. I hand tightened until it would not tighten anymore. However, I came back 2-3 hours later to find a flooded bathroom. When I checked the nut I found it could tighten another half to 3/4 turn! I have no idea why.
I installed a second one and hand tightened until I thought I might break something. I flushed a few times to adjust the levels. I came back in an hour and I could feel some moisture. I was able to tighten it further by a half turn!

Fluidmaster blue top toilet fill valve
This is the cadillac of toilet fill valves. This model comes with a blue top and out performs the lower priced black top model in faster fill times and crisper shutoffs. Pair it with a 502 flapper and your toilet will perform like a sports car. I recommend replacing the fill line connection with a Watts Floodsafe equipped w 3/8" compression fitting.

Deal Youself a Royal Flush!
A leaky toilet can waste a lot of water and get on my nerves! When I had my business, Home Doc, (before I retired) and did general household repairs for people, I always told them to buy the better quality parts because the time and cost to install poorer parts is the same. And, I would probably be back a month later replacing the poor quality parts. I feel the same about the parts I buy for myself. That's why I bought the PerforMAX valve. Sure, I could buy a cheaper toilet valve but I don't like changing valves in the first place. When I looked at the features of the PerforMAX, I decided to spend the extra few dollars. And I am glad I did! My spare moments won't be spent changing out a poor quality valve because I went "cheap". I will be kicking back and watching the Saints!

Awesome and super easy install
Replaced my existing 400 model with this quieter model. It literally took me 10-15 minutes to install and I have no plumbing experience. I used no tools just a pencil to mark my the water level.

Great water saving feature
I've been using Fluidmaster 400 series fill valves for close to 14 years now with great success. I had to replace one that was damaged during a wax seal replacement so I checked out this newer model. It doesn't seem any quieter than the plain 400 series but the addition of the flow control thumb wheel on the small rubber tube that feeds the bowl is a great addition. After you follow the directions for setting the flow, you realize how much water you will save with this new design.

Good product gone bad.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started using these when I ran rental properties for a living. They would replace the old floating ball style. They were durable and very easy to install. Over the years I noticed subtle little changes taking place. Each change was making it a little cheaper which affected the performance. Over the last few years I have noticed they barely last a year if that long. While they are easy to install, I'm tired of doing it. I'm going to try a Corky or maybe a Toto. I'm done with these.
