Hi, does this fireplace grate contain any cancer causing chemicals? I purchased a Homebasix 18" grate and the tag has such a warning, so I want to ensure this one does not.

Not what I expected.
If you are looking for a fire grate that will survive the rigors of heavy use in a Pacific Northwest winter, look at another fire grate. I have this one in my fireplace right now. I got the one I have at the beginning of cold weather, it's only the middle of January and the one I have is melted, sagging, burned out and falling apart. If you only use your fireplace for mood lighting, this one will save money and perform adequately.

Specifications are incorrect
The leg height described is not actually 3.75 inches from ground to the bottom of the grate. It's 3 inches. Please be aware when you're trying to match your fireplace. We drove to a Lowes in another city because the specs for this product were perfectly matched and none of the Lowes in our area had it in stock, only to find that the legs didn't match the specs.

Poor Quality
I go through two of these per winter season since they are made so poorly. I have had my wood stove for 33 years and up until the past five years they would last for a couple of years without totally broke down into thin pieces of iron. They are marked as being made in China so guess the quality has gone down but not the price.

Not worth it.
I purchased this fireplace grate three weeks into December 2020. I only had three fires. The end result was a nearly flat, corroded grate. Ended up going to an antique store and purchased a pair of andirons. Solid iron. If you burn more than duraflame logs, I suggest looking for a more durable grate.

could have been better quality
The wire mesh grate at the bottom already seems to be stressed with only 3 fires in the fireplace. Is
sagging and will not last long, at this rate.

1/2-in Steel 18-in 4-Bar Fireplace Grate with Embe
The quality of these fireplace grates are so poorly made that I go through at least two every winter. They are made in China so maybe that is the reason in that the steel breaks down from the heat over a couple of months.

Cheap materials
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fireplace grate is made with cheep materials and will only last you about one burning season. The “Ember Retainer” is so light weight it had burned through about half way through the season. The legs and cross members have started to sag and are no longer straight. This is the second one we’ve purchased from Lowe’s and I guess it’s okay if you get it with the knowledge that you will be replacing it next year.
