Does this filter help reduce the amount of iron and other metals found in hard/well water?
How do you take it apart to replace the filter ? just install one in my shower.

Bad O-rings
I keep buying complete replacements every 6 months or so because this filter is easy to install and does the job of removing stinky chlorine. You definitely know when it's time to change because the o-ring gives out and it spouts a leak in the housing. I've tried putting in the replacement filters instead of buying the whole kit and caboodle, but the o-ring problem still causes a leak. I called the company and they sent new o-rings (for free) but they never seem to work and still leak. Sooooo, I just buy a new unit every 6 months. And sometimes they leak from the git-go and I've had to return them for another package. Aggravating, for sure.

Poor quality!
So I purchased this because all the other reviews were 4 and 5 star and everyone was saying how great this product is. Brought it home and tried to install it. Even using thread tape I could not get the unit to stop leaking. As I tightened it down a bit more, it broke! So not only am I out the unit but I also have to go buy a new shower head because the threaded piece broke off inside my shower head. By the end of the ordeal I was left with a broken filter, useless shower head and a soaked bathroom from where it leaked so badly and sprayed everywhere. Do not buy this unless you are ok with your bathroom and walls getting a shower as you do.

Did not filter out chlorine.
While I like the water volume you get with this filter, for me, it did NOT reduce the chlorine in my shower water at all. I had tested it before installation and two and three weeks after because it still smelled strongly of chlorine and the chlorine level was identical to without any filter at all. VERY disappointed. I used a pool chlorine test kit (it is inexpensive) which tests accurately for chlorine. I have an under counter kitchen sink filter and the test of that filter shows no chlorine but the shower shows a lot of chorine still in the water that is filtered with the Sprite.
I will try to exchange it for another and test that one too but I am not expecting much better. Test it yourself.

Great for our RV!
We have awful hard water here that really did a number on my skin and hair. We had our water checked and the carbonite hardness was off the chart because it's well water. We attached this and within 3 showers my skin got so much nicer and my hair has been great. It lasted 4 months instead of 6 months for us but I'm sure it probably would if the water was a little less hard. Worked perfectly fine with a low-flow standard RV showerhead but you can't turn the shower water completely off to conserve water or it will leak (warning on package).

Used them for years
I happen to live in an area with very hard water and my house can't have a water softener installed without re-plumbing the entire house. SO I found these as a great alternative for my showers. it extends the life of my shower fixtures and prevents the hard water from drying out my hair and skin.
The only down side I have found is that it may only really survive one filter replacement. after that it doesn't seem to seal 100% properly so I just go buy a new one since they are affordable

Easy Installation. Love this product.
I moved to Florida 6 months ago and my hair condition completely deteriorated. I was not able to safely get a brush through my hair anymore because it became so dry, tangled and brittle. No hair products were helping it improve and my hair was falling out all over the place. Completely heart broken considering how nice it was before I moved here. It took awhile but I finally did enough research and realized that this was 100% due to the hard water here. One shower with this product installed and my hair is better than any high end hair repair mask has made it feel :) Another bonus is that my shower water even smells amazing! It is so clean smelling now. Highly recommend buying this product. **Note: I also paired this device with Sprite's hand held shower head (they easily connect together). Double filtration and well worth it.

My hair is happy again!
After a year of living in a house with hard water, I had given up on ever having soft, manageable hair again. After the first shower with this filter, I could tell an immediate difference. I would highly recommend this product for anyone struggling with the damaging effects of hard water!

New Skin par
I noticed a difference in my skin after the first use. It was amazing. I have now used it less than a month and the dryness is gone and my skin is supple again. I have long hair and in 2 weeks time I no longer need to use conditioner just to comb it. I recommend it highly.
