yes, it locks when you close the door. there is a handle to turn off the autolock from inside to use it just as a handle

Can the direction of the lever be changed from left to right
Yes, you are given a tool which you can pop the lever off and switch the direction from left to right and visa versa

my key pad wont light up
you need to push the schlage button at top to light it up? or maybe you need to change the battery, or battery may be loose. I suggest disconnecting battery and then reconnecting it.

Easy
Enjoyable product, no more keys necessary. FYI: The device always locks when you exit the house;therefore, getting back in requires your four digit code. Easy to install, program, and use. I'm happyand would buy again. Hope this helps.

Perfect keyless locking door solution
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this product to provide a locking and keyless entry solution for an outbuilding. It is convenient and looks great. The keypad lights up at a touch to make dark access easy as well. This all in one handle and lock was a better option than the alternative traditional handle and separate deadbolt keyless entry - and one less hole to drill out.

solid, easy to use and reliable
I researched a number of brands before deciding on this unit based on other reviews and product descriptions. Now that it has been installed, I can saw I made a good choice. It is solid, easy to use and reliable. And it costs about half that of others.

Never Locked out again!
This is by far the easiest door knob/lock I have ever installed. I bought this after I was locked out of my house. I have had it about a month now and have no complaints. It works as it should and I've had no problems so far. I really like the fact that it locks back automatically unless you use to bypass to keep it unlocked. For everyday use I want it to lock back automatically. When we had a get together at my house I used the bypass so I didn't have to give my code out or keep letting people in. Love this door lock and plan to replace my other two door locks with this one.

20 years we've appreciated these keypad door units
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used these keypads on all of our house/garage/cottage doors because we didn't want us or our kids to have to carry keys. Schlege has always stood by their warranty! We just purchased a new house and replaced all the existing knobs with 3 new Schlege keypads yesterday and will replace all the interior knobs with Schlege handles this week.. We trust this brand and this product to last many years without fail. Perfect for our Airbnb too! Quality product for reasonable price
