Best Painters Tape Yet
I received this tape as a sample to try and to give my review. We have some future home improvement projects coming up and thought this would be a great time to test it out. We tried a small area with some semi gloss paint (which in the past with other painters tape upon removal had pulled the paint right off the wall and had leaked paint). This tape worked great with the semi gloss paint, we left it on for a few days and the paint had not leaked inside and when we removed the tape, it did not remove any paint from the walls. We will indeed be using this painters tape when we start our home improvement projects. Thanks

Caused Damage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For some reason this tape either ripped the paint off my trim, or when I was trying to remove the tape, the tape would rip where there was paint on it. Then, I had to pick at the remaining tape and break my nails to get it off. At one point I had to use a razor blade to get the remaining tape off. We just had our windows and trim professionally painted, so now it all needs fixed. Never again. I went online to see if maybe this type of tape wasn't supposed to be used on trim, but it clearly states that it works great on trim and doesn't cause damage.

BEYOND Great!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have received this as a new product to review/test and without bias I can truthfully say that this tape far exceeded my expectations. The edges produce the sharpest lines I have ever experienced and so clean. I tried to paint a border around my baseboard with a different color paint today and it was amazing. It is a new technique I found on a decorating site and this tape was perfect for the job. I can highly recommend this tape for clean edges and it performs perfectly. 3M quality is something I have trusted over the years and this tape is amazing.

Worst Brand name tape I have ever used
Has a lot of curl coming off the roll. Seems to have going on correct amount of adhesive.
However after it was painted on its' personalty changed to just plain awful.. It came off in pieces. Which makes for a lot of paint going underneath the finger nail to pick it off the work. The adhesive coming off was 2 to 3 times more sticky. It has ruined a couple of the windows that had filter film on them by lifting off the working part of the filter. There was NO NO NO Warning on what NOT to use it on. I will tell every body that 3M and this product needs to go back to R & D. This has firmed up my mind to not buy anymore of an kind of 3M tapes. Highly over priced for a poor quality tape.

Very Disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this tape to mask off the ceiling when I painted the walls. I taped one night and went to paint the next day, a lot of the tape had come unstuck. After starting over again I was disappointed when the "edge lock" failed, I had to go around the room and touch up the ceiling in too many places. Also I used it to mask of a window frame and it would not even stay stuck to it. I have used blue painters tape for years and I was excited to try this tape and even paid more than the competitor to try it. I don't like it and I am not likely to use it again.

Easy to apply and seals tightly but...
I was encouraged when I bought this new tape. i thought i would try it because i needed sharp edges along my wall/ceiling. everything was fine until i removed the tape from the ceiling after 3 days and it pulled off all of the paint underneath it. i tried to remove it from different angles and different speeds but anywhere i had applied it the ceiling paint had come off...very disappointing.

Lies
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first used this tape around my ceilings so I could paint the walls. When I finished and removed it 3 days later, it peeled my ceiling paint off EVERYWHERE the tape was. This tape claims "14 day removal".
I then tried using the tape on my walls (several weeks later) to paint stripes. It will not stick to the wall. It literally falls right off. Both my walls and my ceilings are slightly textured. This tape claims "multi-surface".
This tape has wasted my time and money now on more than one occasion. This product does absolutely nothing that it claims.

Not good. Use the old tape.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2 new rolls of scotch blue 2093EL. I taped the room in the morning, taping over paint that had dried for about 36 hours. I came back 4 hours later to paint. Most of the tape had pulled away from the wall. I re-seated most of it, but had to hold off on painting until the next day. Regrettably it pulled away again. I pulled all of it off and retaped with Scotch blue original 2090 which I have used for years without any problems. I will stick with the original scotch blue from now on. .

Buds Pool Room
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this tape to help me paint my Grandson's pool room. Taped off the ceiling, window facings and the baseboard and cannot tell you how Great this product worked. I am 71 years old and this tape saved the week for me. The job looked as if a professional had painted the room. In fact I think it looked better than a professional could have done it. No paint leakage at all. Pulled off as instructed with 100% perfection. I will use this tape each and every time I plan to paint as I do not believe it could get any better. This tape is the Best-bar none.

Terrible Waste of 2 1/2 Hours taping
I spent 2 1/2 hours taping bold stripes in my sons' room and another 2 hours painting to make it a great space for them. We have spent 5 months getting together every detail to make their room great for them and then as we pull back the tape in excitement, there is not even ONE spot on the wall where the tape worked. Images don't lie. All of the paint leaked under the tape. What a waste of time, money, tape and paint. Thanks Edge Lock!

Ripped paint off baseboards & crown moulding!!
I bought this tape (even though it was more expensive than other brands) specifically because it advertised "Advanced Edge-Lock for super sharp paint lines". By the time I was taping the 2nd half of the room, the 1st half was peeling away from the wall, so I had to go back and press it down again. I had the tape in place less than 36 hours and when I removed it, it took the paint right off the baseboards & trim!! I've NEVER had that happen, even when using the cheapest brand. Now I have to paint all the trim, which I hadn't planned on doing. VERY disappointed!!!

NEVER AGAIN Scotch
I spent 3 hours carefully applying this tape, nice and smooth for a striped wall.
As soon as I started applying the first coat of paint the tape started wrinkling leaving very visible gaps between the tape and the wall.
Now I need to start over with tape that isn't garbage.

disappointed
I was really disappointed in this product. My daughter and I used it in our kitchen. It bled through on my cupboards. In other areas, when I took the tape off a day later, it took paint up with it in several areas. Now, I have to paint both my cupboards and my walls. Unfortunately, I don't have the money so I've had to live with this kitchen for several months. Super disappointing!!!

disapointed with 3M
Been painting and varnishing boats professionally for many years and it seems that the blue tape is getting worse and worse. First off it doesn't like to stick to it's self when over lapped. Second it leaves behind some if not most of the adhesive. You might not see this but let a little dust blow around and there is a dirty tape width line. Costs many extra hours of detailing just to clean up that residue. This is especially true on gel-coat but also on and sanded surfaces. If it is not properly cleaned during the detailing it makes for some irate conversations with yacht owners. If taped over sanded surfaces the residue shows very obviously when finish is applied. I'll fed up and finding a new tape supplier.

Seals Tight For No Paint Bleed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free sample of 3M - ScotchBlue Sharp Lines Painter's Tape to review. The tape is easy to apply and remove. I tried it on glass and previously painted smooth walls. I made sure to get paint along the edge of the tape to check the seal. I had no paint bleed. I left the tape up for 5 days and it came off with no residue. It says it can be left on for up to 21 days with no residue when removed but I was not able to leave it on that long. I will buy this product when I need to paint and would recommend it to others.

not the old quality...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What happened? I started with an "old" roll of 2090 Scotch-Blue that I had for a project last year.Well, I couldn't pull more than 8 - 12 inches before it tore itself in that infuriating "V". This hadn't happened with your tape before - the cheap brands, yes it happens all the time. Thought it was just old, so I opened a brand new Scotch-Blue 2093 roll. The same thing happened. Not only that, but I couldn't get the pieces to stick together as I masked off the door frame. I've been doing my own DIY painting for over 40 years and the new stuff just isn't the same quality as the old khaki colored masking tape available at the corner hardware store. Just saying...

Works Very Well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from 3M and it came at the perfect time. Hubby picked up an old, wooden sled at a country auction - it needed some love.
I decided to paint the runners but needed to ensure I didn't get any paint on the old, dry wood. It took a while, but I sealed off all of the wood anywhere near the runners with this painter's tape. After 24 hrs, I removed the tape and was very happy to see that there wasn't any bleeding. Only the runners were painted and the wood retained its character. Thank you so much!

No mess painting!
We recently painted our bathroom and used this tape not only along the wall edges but around the edges of all the fixtures - and it worked awesome! When the walls were all dry, the tape came off super easy and left the paint job looking really nice and neat! I would highly recommend this tape for any painting job =)

Do not buy this tape!!!
I recently purchased this tape believing that it was the best tape to use to protect my surfaces from stray paintbrush strokes. I was horrified when I removed the tape to see that it had ripped off the top layer of my cabinets, as well as the ceiling paint! Now I have to repaint the ceiling, minus the tape, so it doesn't rip off the recent paint on the wall! This tape should come with some big warnings!!! I would have been better off free handing it. Very disappointing!

peeled paint off wall
I've seen the great tv ads for the advanced blue tape and I couldn't wait to try it out on my bedroom walls. We had previously painted our focal wall (45+ days ago), so I thought the tape would do fine on the lightly textured wall. I taped it all up and painted the side wall shortly after I finished taping it off. I was so excited to see the results, however the tape pulled off areas of my focal wall paint from the floor to the ceiling. This means more work for me, plus I'll need to go out and buy more of my focal wall paint to redo the areas that the tape pulled off.

Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this about a month ago and loved it. I found that not only does it help when painting walls but had other handy uses. I used it to block off a design on a rug I was painting and to help get the measurements right to hang shelves and pictures to get it level. It also holds stencils in place without leaving a mark. it stays in place to get a crisp line and is easy to remove without leaving any stickiness behind like I found using masking tape. I am very happy with this product and I would recommend it to anyone.

Product did not work
We used this to paint trim between our hardwood floors and walls. The paint leaked onto the hardwood floors and also ripped our paint off the walls when we removed it. One painting project has now turned into two. Will not be using again in the future. Not worth the extra money.

This product has NO STICKING POWER
I am remodeling my kitchen and painting the trim on my porch. The blue painters tape used in my kitchen stuck so that after then paint dried and I pulled off the tape, off came the paint in sheets. So now I am repainting the trim on my porch. Home Depot offers a new Scotch Blue painters tape with Edge Lock Protection. I am up early to prep, mask off the entire porch and as I am proceeding to the next wall, down comes the tape. I am using masking tape to hold up the painters tape. This tape has no sticking power and costs about $2.00 more. Weather conditions are perfect. Not too cold and not too hot or damp. I am sorely disappointed in this product. after Ran to Home Depot to buy painter's tape. I experienced this non-stick with two roles of this tape. I can honestly say DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!! Ripped paint off of the wall
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was painting trim with a small brush, and so I wanted a narrower tape to use. I found this and decided to try it. When I removed it, it took a large strip of paint off of the wall with it, to the point where I now have to sand and repaint that entire section of the wall. When I retape the area, I'm going back to frog tape, which has yet to fail me since I started painting my house last year.

Head to Head battle...it won!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently did a daring paint job in the main bathroom. Went with a classic silver background with horizontal blue stripes. First time ever trying to do stripes. This tape made it much easier because of the confidence I had that the paint would not seep thru. Alas, I got very crisp lines and am really happy with the product. Tried another popular brand first because of the salesman; but got really bad results. This tape is superior in all aspects. It came off extremely easily also. Highly recommend.

So frustrating!
We bought this tape to use to protect the baseboards when painting and to use to make the accent stripes on two walls. It has been so frustrating. It does NOT stick, more accurately it does not STAY stuck to the walls. We spent several hours measuring, chalking and taping the stripes only to come over this morning to paint and find half of it coming off the walls. We ended up using a competitors product because it works, stays stuck, and doesn't fall the walls. Frustrating experience and leaves us with several rolls of tape we don't trust to use.

Doesn't Stick
Bought a couple of rolls to paint a bathroom and a bedroom. Taped off the bedroom first, then the bathroom. Decided to paint the bathroom first and leave the bedroom for the next day. Within an hour of taping, the tape was coming off the trim. OK, no problem, maybe I just hadn't done a good enough job cleaning the surfaces. Re-taped, finished painting quickly, went to bed. Woke up the next morning to find that almost half of the tape in the bedroom had come unstuck and fell off. Never had this problem with 3M tape before. Hoping it's a fluke.

What exactly does the tape "lock" out? Cuz it's clearly not paint!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this tape to tape around our crown molding and trim, and could not have been more disappointed when we pulled it off. We used your average latex paint and primer in one, and it had bled under the edges and our room looks TERRIBLE. It looks like we will now need to repaint all of our crown molding and trim and repaint all of our edges. Something we had not planned to do.. now there will be a whole lot of extra time and money we have to spend because of the failure of this product.

Best tape ever used
I love to paint but not having to prep. I decided I was going to paint our bedroom and it's a good size. I was diligent in prepping with the scotch blue edge lock tape and it was alot quicker than I've ever experienced. Once I started painting I was so happy at how nice the edges came out when I took the tape off. Had to use alot of it as we have two windows and 3 doorways in our room. Plus we have popcorn ceilings with cheap molding at ceiling. We have a manufactured home and alot of the choices for finishes were not mine, they came with the house. With the edge lock I didn't have to go back to fix my mess ups which there are usually a good amount. It was a bit more expensive than other prep tapes but well worth the money. I will only use Scotch blue edge lock tape from now on. This tape will work well when I paint furniture also which is one of my next projects. Thanks for such a great product.
