will these sliding doors fit a closet that is 30 inches wide by 80 inches tall?
Yes you can install, BUT because each panel is 19" wide, you will have only 11" opening when the door is fully open.
On the other side when it is fully closed, the look of front panel is full 19", but the other door only 11" exposed, so the two doors width do not look identicall.
I have the same issue but my opening is 32" wide. I am going for it because my other option is either to order special order for the size I want which becomes too pricy, or to go for bifold which I dont like because it is not stable and too flimsy design. Your other option is to add a hinge single door of 30", but you should have room to open it. I have decided to go for sliding door 36" (perfect opening for this 36" sliding door is 36" opening, then two 19" panel makes a 1" overlap.

I'm confused. My closet opening is 80" W X 80.5 H. The description measurements read 36" X 80" and the specs say the width of each mirrored door is 19" W. If I take calculate 19" plus 19" for each door, I get = 38" please explain. Not adding up. Thanks!
The additional 3 inches is to account for the 1.5 inch overlap of the panels. If your closet is 80 Inches wide, you need bigger doors.

The price is for both doors. Each door is 18 inch wide.

Yes you could but you wouldn't end up with much space to access the closet with the door open.

Can I assume that the 36" is the space the door fully exteded fits into and the 19" actual opening is when one door is slid to the side?
No, 36" is the max opening it will cover 19" is each door so back to back the opening will be 17" max 36" - 19" = 17"

Hello, can these doors be cut or shortened to fit a shorter basement closet?
No, they are not wood. They are some kind of very thin composite molded panels with metal frame around outside to hold them stiff.
