Great stick welder
I used this old workhorse welder in the 1980's to build (weld from scratch) 2 trailers; stable arc, the current switch has detents to hold the selector in position to get the same current every time (avoid those sliding switches on the welders from ch**a, and the stick holder will probably outlive you. I also welded a serious drag racing car's 4-link rear (brackets harnessing 459+ HP to a solid spool 9" axle). Got good, deep 1/4" weld penetration in one pass! tough, durable, reliable. I recommend either buying the wheel kit from Lincoln, or (better yet) making a wheeled cart as your first project with a cable hook for the cables and a shelf/box for your extras (helmet, sticks, chip hammer, wire brush, and a lot of "C" clamps.

Best welder value going!
I got one of these in 1978 when I was 18. It was the beginning of a 40+ year career as a certified welder! Now, in retirement, I just bought another one to piddle with. Much more versatile than the little wire welders everyone seems so crazy over these days! Lowe’s had the best price I could find anywhere including online. They had it in stock at my local store, so I didn’t have to deal with shipping and receiving a damaged product due to shipper carelessness! Fine running machine that will handle most any DIY/farm/maker need! Get u one!

Best home welder available
This has got to be one of the best overall welders available. The ONLY con to this is that it is 220 volt, therefore limiting its portability. It is well built, sturdy, and easy to use. I've welded 16 gage sheet steel with excellent results at 30 amps, all the way up to 3/4" AR500. This thing is a work horse. Striking an arc is simple, even at the lowest amperage. This has been an issue with the cheaper 50-70 amp welder that I purchased for a project when I was away from home.
To wire mine I ran a plug hooked into my 50 amp dryer connection. I've never had an issue with over current. I don't think I've ever had it above 160 amps. Never needed more, it has plenty of available power to spare.
Based on other reviews I would expect this welder to outlive me and will be passed down to my grandson. This welder is just the ticket for home or farm.

Tried and True
It's a great welder. I used my grandfather's, which he bought in 1973, and I was sold on getting my own. It's good with 6011, 6013, and 7014. I know most people don't have a big 50 amp breaker for this machine to run full out, but I have a 30 amp outlet and it seems to run up to 105 amps without trouble. This honestly will cover almost all of your 3/32 and 1/8 rods.

Made to last!
We've had this same model welder since 1975, until it was stolen last week. We are absolutely sold on this unit for all our welding needs. I work for my Dad who owns a textile mill in NC, and this welder has far served us all these years in repairing machinery, our tractors and other miscellaneous projects. We've used it on stainless steel dyeing equipment, cast iron machine parts, general steel applications, such as rotary cutter decks, front end loaders and other tractor related items. It has also served us well with our truck and trailer needs. I don't want any other type welder than this one.The old boy might have been the "old school" type, but he ALWAYS came through for us. It NEVER let us down. Goodbye old friend, now it's time for your offspring to take on the task. My only wish is that you refuse to work for the ones who took you from us, but then it's just not in your nature!

225 A/C
This has got to be one of the best stick welders on the market today for your home shop. People that say you need D/C to get a decent weld is just stupid. It only takes a little practice and you will be laying down some realy nice beads and will save you a few bucks over an A/C D/C welder. I have been welding and fabricating sinse the mid 80's and these old tomb stone's still impress me.
