Did The Job
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased to drill tree stumps for salt application. Worked great with higher amp drill. Waste displacement was low from about 4 inches deep...expected. Worth the money...seemed sharp even on hard wood stump.

Great tool for wood, etc.
I used this bit to drill holes to implant willows for my pole holes. I wanted extra depth so the poles would not get blown over in a wind. It allowed me to penetrate a few inches into the hard ground below the 8 inch tilled soil. It worked well. Now I have a bit added to my collection that I can use in the future.

Good for more than wood
Truth to tell, I didn't use this product for wood. I needed a way to make a small hole a foot deep or so in the ground under several spots of a shed I recently bought to sink some anchors. What attracted me to this item was that there was also an extension for it, if I had to make the holes TWO feet deep, instead. The spade bit did a great job of boring the holes through both the floor of the shed and the ground beneath. And, it held well in the chuck of the drill through over two dozen bores.

quality was great struck a nail and no damage
I had to put the hole in the wall in a specific place so when I struck a nail or screw I had to continue and cut through it. I really thought that was the end of the drill spade but it worked fine and I drilled several more holes quick and easy. The other nice thing is that its much better than the drill extention because it can slide ou inside the wall.

Better than expected
I bought this to drill holes through PT lumber including 6x6 posts attached to 2x10's. I didn't expect much with a spade bit but this thing just went through the PT without any issues. Better than that auger bit that I bought assuming that the auger bit would be better. The one thing to watch out for is that with the spade bit you can have a lot of saw dust build up in the hole so pull the drill out every so often to clear out the saw dust.

Wood boring bit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used it to drill into a tree stump for chemical treatment to accerlate decomposing. Drilled about sixteen holes full depth of the bit hit pockets of dirt that dulled the bit. Worked great.

Drill
This is a standard drill bit for the type. If you have used one before this is just like it... only longer. The metal is made of a strong enough metal that the drill does not 'bow' when pressed into the wood. I used it to drill thru a railroad tie and it got the job done. I found that the trick is to let the hole cool down some... I drilled a little on one hole then went to the next. This seemed to let the drill bite thru the wood better.
