Tri-Flute Drill Bit woodboring
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this bit to install and anchor land scape timbers in a large project.Approximatley 2500 liner feet each timber was 8 ft long with anchor holes drilled through every 2 feet.rebar rods were hammered through the holes to keep them in place. Then a second timber was nailed to the top of each timber. This bit never dulled.and was used the next day to drill anchor holes in a deck railing.20ft long 12 feet wide. The bit is still sharp.
I have since purchased 6 addition sizes for other projects we are doing in Oct,Nov.This is a very fast bit and would recommend it to anyone building decks, swings, landscape structures etc.

Lost the bit with the first hole!
I drilled into a tree for the treehouse I was building. On the first hole, I could not extract the bit--it would not back out- in reverse, forward, and/or straining myself to the max and I am a big strong man. The bit is still in the tree!! Tried a 1/2" of same design - controlling the boring very slowly and carefully. After half drilled, it pulled itself in to the max and would not come out, so now two of these brand new and expensive bits are permanently stuck in the tree!!!!! Hey Irwin----a heads up would have been nice!!!
It may be ok for some other uses--but NEVER drill into a live tree. You will be going back to the store for old fashioned 2 blade wood bits..... R Sp-->

Nice Bit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a good bit. I bought it to bore out holes in a header board so I could plug them and then remount a sliding barn door. The bit was smooth and made a much cleaner hole then a traditional paddle bit does. I would definitely recommend this bit. The only nock I had against it is that it could get a little squirrelly on you if your not paying attention but that's how it is with a lot of things. also not I was using this bit on softwood and have not used it enough times to comment on durability.

My goto bits for large boring projects.
These are great for my purposes (boring pilot holes through landscaping timbers). But when I put them on my 1/2" drill with an extension piece they just run right through 8"pieces with little trouble at all. They have a pilot screw on the tip that engages the wood and proceeds to guide the bit through the wood. Very little effort is needed to bore the holes. And because they have the small sharp cutters on the outside edge of the bit, the hole is clean cut.

Dentist likes his drill,
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In my office I use the finest carbide and diamond drills in my high speed handpieces for painless dental care.
In my work shop, I demand the same quality and performance. That’s why I choose Irwin Products and my 5/8- inch drill bit performs with excellence. Its tri flutes are super sharp and balanced for a clean, vibration free result...and NO! I don’t use workshop drill bits in my dental practice!

As advertised
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure how this bit would do with my 1.5 amp battery on my cordless drill, but I was suprised at how easy the 5/8” bit chewed through the wood with a full battery. Drill did eventually end up getting hot, so I switched to the plug in drill and had no issues. Bit stayed sharp boring about 50 holes through 4x4 treated lumber.

Looks pretty but don't expect it to do anything
I bought this "fasted speedbor ever" drill bit to drill a hole in the fence post. Once the tip got into the wood, it stopped and wouldn't turn at all. I returned it and got a regular 5/8 drill bit and it got the job done without a problem. This one might work if you were drilling through soft wood, but not if you want it to do any real work.

Tri-Flute Drill Bit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very few 5/8' wood drill bits available but had to settle for a tri-flute bit. Would preferred a 3/8" shank instead 1/4" shank. Too much tear-out. Preferred a wood twist drill bit but the store did not have any in stock.
