Is this a all natural product and no combustible chemicals added?
Yes, it is an all natural product. Some pieces may not be 100% carbonized, but unlike many briquettes, no chemicals are added.

One of the best I've used.
If you're like me, you have a reputation of buying and trying every type of charcoal you can get your hands on. Burned about 140lbs of it last summer before it was sold out in my local stores, and then switched out to another product.
This charcoal has good high heat, low ash, and very little sparks. Usually there are not too many fines in the bag, but you will have to break up a few of the bigger lumps. One hit with a hammer and problem solved. When doing long slow cooks, the big pieces are a gift, so I'll usually put the few from each bag to the side for when doing an 8 hour cook.

Very neutral lump charcoal
This is one of the best lumps available at a good price, $17.99 on the west coast. it can be found for less in Ontario, closer to the source. Very low ash, good heat and does not spark excessively when starting (especially if using a torch) It adds a woodfire taste, but is still very neutral making it ideal for the use of smoke wood/chips.

Bad product
I used this product for most of my bbqing last year and it’s garbage. I have seen chunks of brick from their oven, pieces of resinous wood, pieces of lumber. On top of that, most of the bags we’re small pieces which pretty much look like stone dust... I sent them an email last spring to complain regarding some of issues listed above. They said they would send me a check to cover the cost of the bag. Never received.

Now one of the worst lumps on the market
I bought 3 bags from a Lowes in Kitchener. All 3 were filled with very small pieces with hardly any reasonably sized pieces. I had found this has been getting worse and worse frim Maple Leaf lately. The problem with this is that you cannot get hot fires going because there is not enough air flow and one must either mix with other larger lumps or add non flammable spacers in your bbq. Go with Royal oak or Basques or Kamado Joe big block or some other brand.

Where is the LUMPS?
I always buy the Royal Oak lump charcoal but wanted to try a new kind for fun but I'm really disappointed... I open the bag and the picture attached is what I see... Tiny pieces instead of lumps... i have to keep adding charcoal every 10 minutes. Anyways at least now i know not to but this brand.
