Snap on quality for husky prices. great set 4 all
Excellent set with more than enough sockets. Can easily make 2 ratchets with same size sockets for brake or other mechanical jobs so both sides of the bolt can be done with a ratchet. Also has some wrenches and a nut driver and bits. The best part is the case has a sturdy hinge and the sockest do not fall out when the case is laid up on its side like a suitcase.(unlike the 227PC.kobalt set I returned for this set) the kobalt set has basically the exact same sockets but is much heavier because of the extra bit tips and nut drivers which aren't worth it considering after a drive with the set in the car it had to be RE orginazed in order to use it. The craftsman 165 PC. Socket set is great for any home owner or any worker that doesn't want to pay 85 for a professional ratchet and another 125 per socket set of each size like snap on. I highly recommend this to everyone.

Great Tool Set
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2 of these sest about a year ago and well worth the price. One set went to my son and I keep the other. I have many other Craftsman tools but this gets used the most because of the convienence of being able to carry around and has most of the common tools I need. About every couple of weeks I have to work on a auto for different co-workers and having the organized tool set makes life easy when you are looking for a tool. Craftsman tools are strong and wont let you down when working on heavy jobs. Craftsman tools have a great reputation and stand by their product.

Defective rachets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In the first set I purchased the locking mechanism in the 3/8” ratchet was defective and would not hold the sockets in place. I had to return the whole set for a refund and buy another set because Lowe’s can’t just replace a defect tool with that has a lifetime warranty. After getting the new set home I found that the 1/4” ratchet had a defective locking mechanism, so I’ll just be returning the set. I was really excited about Lowe’s carrying Craftsman, but it seems like they have a lot of quality control issues. It is also not worth the hassle of having to do a return on the whole set just to replace one defective piece. I was disappointed about this process with the Kobalt warranty and was hopeful the craftsman warranty would work differently.

Solid Kit, Great as a first set
I have to say, this kit comes with everything you’ll need to start out in the auto industry, or just have around for when repairs on cars are needed.
I have only 2 gripes, and it unfortunately made me return the kit. Nothing is bad about it, and I actually loved it. But I personally expected more from it than it offered.
1. It does not have a 22mm socket, this is a downfall. If you have a truck and plan on keeping this as an emergency kit, you’ll have to buy extra stuff on the side to make it work.
2. Quality. Wow, Craftsman from what I know has changed. The ratchets I got had sharp edges around the handle, and the teeth on them were very shotty. The wrenches had some sharp edges as well, and often times had them hurt my hands as I was using them to do some small work on my truck.
Overall, not bad for the price. I’d recommend it to anyone if it’s your first set of tools. But if your someone like me with several thousands of dollars in tools already, you’ll be better off buying Kobalt. Not knocking the kit, because it really is a great set. I was just expecting a lot more than what I got since it carried the Craftsman brand.

Nice sockets, sharp edges on ratchets.
I returned this set.
The sockets were what I expect of Craftsman. Nice finish and excellent construction.
Where the problem lies is the ratchet handles had sharp edges left from poor finishing. I literally sliced my thumb on it from a metal sliver. I looked at another set that was open and it also had flashing around the one side of the ratchet head so this is not a one off issue. The Universal's also had sharp flashing left behind. They could be filed down and fixed but it would remove the finish. I returned them instead of fixing them and just ordered GearWrench instead. Bit disappointed as I'm a huge Craftsman fan.
Not sure how this made it through quality control on more than one set.

Lifelong Gift
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this set as a young adult from my Dad. I have used it and continue to use it in a variety of applications since then (23 years). I have given one to each of my sons around the same age, with confidence, knowing that it will be a lifelong gift!

Great Craftsmans tool set
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recommend the Craftsman 165 piece mechanics tool set because it comes with the perfect size tools and especially all the sockets, and screw and nut bits that I need when working on my truck. These Craftsman mechanics tool set is so easy to use., and the ratchets are pretty strong, not at all flimsy like some other ratchets. The deep sockets are great and make my job much easier and faster to finish the job. I really like the look and feel of the Craftsman 165 piece mechanics tool set.
