Can the heat line be installed inside the water line, NOT on the outside of the water line?
No.

I am running two plastic pipes, one hot and one cold water, from inside my home to an out side building with on demand heat only. Can I tape the 2 pipes with the sensor cable together with the heat sensor on one of the pipes? please advise
No they need to be independently heat traced and insulated so the heat trace can regulate the temperature better

After I install the heat tape, can I wrap the pipes and tape with pipe foam insulation? What is the recommended kind of pipe insulation, foam or fiberglass? (to avoid the risk of fire)
we found that there was no reason to wrap the pipes after installation of the heating cable,....but the should be no difference if insulation were to be used.....would recommend the foam....

what if is not straight
- cable bends / conforms to pipe, ...attach with plastic ties.

I been doing a little research into what I can purchase to keep a outdoor 100lb propane tank warm as the cold drop the last few days are causing pressure issues and I wanna know if these would work or if there is something else recommend for that purpose?
I am wanting to run plastic pipe water line from my cottage to my garage above ground. The length is 75 feet. Do i just attach the heat trace to the pipe and let the pipe sit on the ground? Or does it have to be covered?
Package indicates the item should only be used on water pipes. I wish to use the item in 3 ft and 6 ft long aluminum 3" x 3" down spout extensions sloped on a 20 degree angle below horizontal and fed from a GFI. Can I do so?
can this be used on pvc or pex pipe

Freeze Saver
This is still new to me so I may update later. The recent extended freeze in San Diego (I'm at 1700 feet) caused my well pump pressure switch to freeze up. I purchased this 18' heat cable and a 6' cable for an exposed filter assembly. Such products are hard to find in San Diego area, but the Escondido store had quite a few in several different lengths (Plumbing department item).
They were easy to install and have proven very effective- weather has been colder than when it initially froze up, yet I have not had a repeat of the problem.
You'll need a local 110VAC outlet, and suitable high-temp electrical tape or insulation wrap, which are not supplied with the cable. Installation was straightforward and simple. Instructions are generally above average. These appear to be made in Mexico, rather than China, and at least outwardly appear to be of good materials, fit, and finish.
We'll see how the cables perform over coming days and update if necessary.

If it works in Canada - it'll work anywhere!
We live in Alberta, Canada and our winters can fall to below -50 degrees Celsius and colder with the windchill.
Hasn't been quite that cold yet this year but our water froze up on Christmas Eve and it turned out that our original Easy Heat tape had been chewed through by some type of critter. We replaced it, and within an hour we had glorious running water again!
I will say that the one issue I have with these is that the indicator light on the cord does not shut off when there is damage to the cord. We assumed the heat tape was fine because the indicator light was still on - don't rely on this! We had to manually feel the pipe under the insulation to find that it was frozen solid.

Easy Heat = Junk
This was installed by a professional jobber on my main water inlet. It lasted two months and then failed on Christmas Day, causing my water line to freeze solid. On boxing day I bought an identical replacement, which then failed again as soon as I plugged it in. Easy Heat cables have serious quality issues and will fail when you need them most. Real quality cables from Raychem or Thermon cost quite a bit more but will actually last years, not days. Please save yourself endless grief and avoid Easy Heat cables.

Whats inside?
Just in case you wanted to know, if you widdle down the soft plastic, you find out that the hot wire goes through a 36TXE01. I just wanted the cord - put my own digital thermostat on it.
