Rescued old batteries
I purchased it to charge some old batteries that came with some old tools I acquired. All but one came back to life and the tools and batteries are working again. It charges different voltages also which is nice because I had a variety of voltages

BATTERY CHARGERS
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] YEARS AGO (MAYBE 20) I PURCHASED A 4 TOOL 18V KIT WHICH HAS HELD UP WELL. I FINALLY BURNED UP THE DRILL MAKING HOLES IN ENGINEERED FLOOR JOISTS AND HAD TO REPLACE IT. FINALLY, LAST WEEK, THE CHARGER (DW9116) QUIT AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH A DC9310. FRANKLY, I AM . AMAZED AT THE DURABILITY OF DEWALT CORDLESS TOOLS. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THEM!

Why am I having to replace my Charger?
Dewalt needs to add another code to it's "troubleshooting blinking light" One that tells you the charger itself is bad! I've only had my charger for about 3 years(came with combo pack of tools) and it by no means see's heavy use. Today, it's diagnostic blinking light tells me that both of my batteries (18V XRP's) need replacing, I figure well...they are 3 years old and I know they don't last forever. I bite the bullet and head to Lowe's and buy a new 2 pack for $100, bring them home and the charger tells me they both need to be replaced also!! OK, I get it. Back to Lowe's to purchase a new charger(another $75!) Like magic I not only charge my new batteries, but I also bring my old ones back to life. So, my review on my new Dewalt DC9310? Other than the fact that it charges Li-Ion batteries as well, it works as well as my old DW9116 Charger did until it just stopped working. I see the new model comes with a 3 year warranty, interesting....that's how long my old charger lasted. I guess we'll see how well the Destructive Testing Engineers are doing at their job.

Used once and right port burned out
I was debating whether to buy a knock-off or pony up the extra dough for an actual DeWalt charger. I just bought a new house and knew I was going to be doing a lot of work with my DeWalt tools. I was using the 18V drill for various tasks around the house and drained two of the 4 batteries I had. I plugged them both in to the dual charger. When I came back an hour later the left battery was charged, but the right port was blilnking continuously. According to the legend on the charger, that meant that my battery pack was now dead, which was strange as I hadn't ever had any issues before. After that, the right port never worked. So after one charging session I've effectively dropped down to a single charger and I'm out a battery. Thanks DeWalt.

Great charger
Who needs the new 20 volt line when this line of drills etc are still goin strong. Only reason I needed a new charger was the fact I fried mine in Iraq with the 220 ~ 110 difference. Oops. Keep it up Dewalt!
