Battery terminals....
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Most/all electronic products have the tab or spring which puts pressure on the batteries on the negative side with a dimple that the positive side falls into. This stud finder put the tabs on the same side of the battery box so that one battery has it against the negative and the other against the positive. The battery with the tab against the positive is pushed up. I figured the cover would function to hold it in place, but it does not. The stud finder works as long as it is not held vertically. You know... Like you typically would up against a wall.

Waste of money
Straight out of the package it gave constant false readings, alerts that there is electrical when there isn’t, did not once find a stud even in areas where I know them to be. Tried multiple batteries to make sure that wasn’t the issue. To their credit Lowe’s offered to let me bring it back for store credit

Complete Junk
Reports AC literally everywhere. Walls I know have none. Cabinets. The side of a book shelf. Cant reliably find a stud, will give you different position readings with every pass you miraculously get without the AC alarm going off. I have no idea how this ever made it to store shelves. It is by far, without a doubt, the absolute worst stud finder I have ever used.

Did not meet expectations
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I saw this product in a home improvement magazine. I purchased it, but it did not meet my expectations. Hard to tell where studs were located and reported electricity where I knew none existed.

Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product does just as designed. It not only helps you find the stud, it helps you mark the center of the stud. Locates electrical wires.

Worst I’ve EVER Used
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t know where to start with this thing. It’s gotta be one of the most poorly designed electronic devices I’ve ever used. The button placement is terrible and requires you to keep the button pressed but since it’s in the center it becomes a chore after a while. You would think it’s use is pretty straight forward but it only includes vague pictures instead of actual directions in the package. With that being said, I can’t get this thing to shut up and actually find studs. As soon as you press the button it detects an electrical wire in the wall which illuminates one of the lights and lets out an excessively loud and fast beep. This beep doesn’t stop unless you release the button. If you’re actually trying to find a stud all you hear is the annoying beep from the wire detection. And since they haven’t included directions there’s no way to figure out if you can turn off the wire detection. I own a lot of Craftsman products but this one is complete garbage. I’ll be returning it immediately for something that does it’s job properly. Have you noticed most of the reviews were written by people who received the product for free or as part of a promotion? Do yourself a favor and find a better one that works properly and doesn’t sound like a window alarm the entire time you’re using it.

Piece of garbage!
This is the worst stud finder I've ever used! As others have said, it almost always alerts to electrical wires that aren't even there! DO, NOT, BUY!

Doesn't work
Piece of junk. Ran it across a wall that has no wiring and it keeps telling me there is a live wire in the wall. Isn't picking up the studs either.
