Blade insertion instructions
Like many, I struggled getting the blade inserted. I’ve owned others so I knew to press the button to the full position. I even guessed the little button on the side was a catch. What I didn’t know was that it requires a shake-shake-shake to get the balde to settle into the mechanism to be able to lock in place and retract. Found that on a review at another website.

Can not put in blade. no instructions anywhere how too, even though it states there is on the website. LIE. No more Craftsman for me.

DONT undo that MIDDLE screw! Read packaging
I have an old relic version of some silver no name that pass down from others in the family tool box. you undid that knife and replaced the old blade with a new blade. First I love the bright GREEN cause most Craftsman, Dewalt or Bosche tools will not be confused with this GREEN knife. I almost see it out of the corner of my eye when tinkering and its not needed but undoing boxes opening thick plastic. this just glides through. And more I am sure but the blades will break if forced. OVERALL IT IS A PERMANENT FIXTURE on my bench, and when I bought it I had the packaging to guide me through how to use it. 3-4 months later I went to replace a blade and that old silver hand me down habit UNDO THE CENTRE screw made me to the same to this. It was like opening a pocket watch and having a exploded MATRIX view blow up in front of you and it did. I am sure I could of fiddle with it to bring it back but one crucial piece was lost. More stupid than sloppy but PLEASE don't make my mistake. Thanks Rona for making the search quick.

Craftsman Quick Change Utility Knife
The Craftsman Quick Change Utility Knife is anything but quick change. No instructions. Thanks to James2222 I was able to load the blade. It still was not easy to do. James2222's instructions kept me from returning the knife.

Retractable Utility knife
If it wasn’t for James2222 instructions on blade change I would still be trying to insert blade. Very frustrating experience.

CANT GET INITIAL BLADE INTO DEVICE!!!
Feels great, has great color for around the house, blades appear useful for all kinds of cutting when scissors cant cut it! HOWEVER, BUT, WATCHOUT
package says to go to THIS VERY WEBSITE for instructions and THERE IS NO MANUAL to load the 1st blade SAFELY,...AND....I want to use it now. BUT.....its a NO GO!!!

This is so confusing
I removed the knife from the package and took screw out and it fell apart! I bought it because it's a Craftsman and usually great products, but this breaks my heart. I cannot put it back together correctly and will try to get someone to help, but I think I just wasted my money. If there are instructions please let me know because it's probably too late to return.

Awesome directions James222
After about 10 minutes of frustration, reading James222 suggestions - I have succeeded and demonstrated several times to the wife who really likes it. Being old and weak fingers does not help, but the little trick of the wiggle and the shake - then the pull to "click" really does work. Thanks.
