Great Trimmer, Horrible line replacement Spools
I purchased this a couple months ago and have been impressed with the battery life and cutting ability. It handles edging along chicken wire type fencing and other hard materials. However I finally got to the end of the line and had purchased the CRAFTSMAN recommended pre-wound replacement spools. Immediately the line advanced stopped working. After a few hours I discovered the new pre-wound lines didn't fit properly onto this trimmer. The new spools fit a little tighter and prevented the line feed mechanism from working. I re wound the new line onto the old spool and it works like a charm. I'd recommend not getting the pre-wound spools until craftsman gets their act together

Get the other one (line feed is sometimey)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took my time in the store trying to figure out the best electric trimmer to get, and i settled on this mainly because of the small batter and electric line feed. This one was the only one with the line feed... Well much to my surprised, the line feed hardly worked. It appears that if the line isn't already long, it doesn't have enough force to get it to release more... So the main thing i got it for didn't work. Otherwise i like all the rest of the features of this one. I went n got the slightly more expensive Craftsman model, and that one is leaps and bounds better than this one. Don't bother with this one.

Shocked
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, I was a bit skeptical about purchasing a battery operated trimmer, unsure if it would be powerful enough to do a thorough job, but so far I am glad I did! Take note that I have only used it one time, but I was immediately surprised. I don't have the biggest yard, however the battery lasted all the way through the job, about 40 minutes. I am pretty sure it wasn't fully charged as well. I placed it on the charger out of the box while I mowed. Once I was done the charger was still flashing, indicating it wasn't fully charged yet. The line advance feature via button works great. I did have to remove the spoil once because the string included was a bit tangled. No complaints.

Great job so far
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have about an acre but my trimming need is probably about 200 linear feet and around five trees and some miscellaneous brush. I have had this a month and got about 3 uses on one charge. I find the unit comfortable to use. The edger mode is great. The auto line feed seems to work so far. I don't like the position of the safty switch versus line feed. My thumb wants to go to the line feed on top versus the safety on the side. I hate those safety switches anyway but I am trainable. The unit has easily enough power for fescue and Bermuda grasses as well as small blackberry plants. I also trimmed some pulpy weeds about half an inch in diameter.

Great Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this weed eater today, charged the battery and have used it. This trimmer is awesome. I replaced an industrial gas style trimmer that was a pain to use, not self feeding, had to cut lines to attach... an overall a piece of junk. The Craftsman trimmer rocks, I live in the country with nasty thistles, tumbleweeds, thick wild vegetation, and this trimmer sliced through the weeds like they were a blade of grass. I also like the push button line dispenser opposed to ground tap feeds and the ability to adjust the length. As a female user this was quite easy and pleasant to operate.

Perfect for the average homeowner
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I am pretty impressed with this trimmer. Battery life was great, I was able to mow about 1/3 acre yard on two charges. The trimmer has more than enough power for use, I usually was able to keep it in "low" and occasionally would switch it to high just for a couple of seconds to take down heavier brush. The edger function works wonderfully for a average homeowner, but I would not use the edger for professional landscaping. Great edition to my craftsman tools!

Battery was ok. String was the problem.
What a piece of junk. The string is supposed to be button fed. It started out long and knocked the edge guard off (so the cutting blade didn’t cut it) so I cut it short put the guard back on and tried again. As I was cutting, any time I stopped it sounded like the string was hitting the blade again. Sure enough the blade didn’t cut, it hit the guard, the guard flew off. Lather rinse repeat. I finished the yard, took it apart and put it back in the box. What a huge disappointment for a name brand that was cheaper...guess I’ll know better when I exchange it.

Line Feed Issues
I too have had the same issues as most users. The line won't feed and I am continuously having to stop and manually feed the line which is very annoying and time consuming. I purchased the craftsman pre-spun rolls like it calls for and I still can't get the line to advance for me. So frustrating. I was so excited to find a lightweight weed eater that I could use but I have been very disappointed and in the market to get a new one. Bummer.
