How does this unit change from a trimmer to an edger? Does the handle rotate?
Thank you for your question. The lower half of the trimmer shaft can be rotated to use the string trimmer head as a lawn edger, keeping the debris shield in the optimum position for operator safety. An optional steel bladed edger attachment model #41BJLE-C902 (Lowe's item # 91517) is available separately.

This product, brand new, stalls when the choke is turned off. I've tried giving it longer to a lot longer to warm up, and it still stalls. What should I do?
Problem resolved: I'd thought the gas I was using was fine. It was only a few months old and I'd added Sea Foam as a stabilizer. I figured I might as well try swapping out the gas for fresh premium grade gas, though. Now it's running great.

Can you use an electric starter on the trimmers
Not that I am aware. It is a pull strong with Chile and primer to get it going.

Lowes is amazing, Cub Cadet is very good
I purchased online, arrived in 2 days. They price matched RONA, way to go.
Unit was a snap to put together, very simple. Be sure to read about oil, adding and maintaining.
Runs good, again, read the manual, as no more than 10% ethanol/gas allowed.
Didn't start so easy, but once it did, started no problem after.
I have a good sized area needing this tool and it worked great. Trimer is light, balanced. Use the shoulder strap and find the right length, I used it for 30 minutes and it worked great.
I own a Cub Cadet riding mower, so I trusted the name. I am not disappointed so far.

After two weed eaters who were disapointments, I paid a little more and got the 4 cycle cub cadet. It is well worth the extra money, starts well EVERY time, has tremendous power and lasts. Stop looking at other ones, this is the kne you need!

2 weeks old and already broken :(
I bought this 2 weeks ago. Used it twice and went to start it this morning and on the first crank the recoil handle slipped out of my hand, hit the air filter cover causing one of the tabs to break and now there's no way to use it.

Impossible to replace line
This thing worked great for about 2 weeks. Then the bump line feeder stopped working so of course the line rolled up inside. I opened it up to pull out the line - there was lots left - and then looked at the instructions to replace the line. HAHA it must be a joke. Insert the line through the 'entry eyelet' and push it through the head until it comes out the exit eyelet?? What? I've tried that about 50 times and the line does NOT come out the exit eyelet. I can't even believe those are the instructions. Can anyone reading this help me? The line finds a hole on the side every time and never come through the exit. I'm not sure how you're supposed to get that to work.

This is by far the best string trimmer I have ever had, and not having mix oil and gas is a blessing. It runs very smooth and it is very easy to pull to start it. I have just purchased the SS470, 4 cycle string trimmer and so far it is great.

It's a great weedeater for a man
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the SS 470 Cub Cadet weedeater in exchange for my honest opinion. I'm 5'8", so I'm not short. This weedeater is a little bit too long for me, and also very heavy. If it didn't have a strap with it, there's no way I would have been able to use it. With that being said, it is honestly the best weedeater I've ever used and probably the best one on on the market. It's 4 cycle so the gas and oil don't have to be mixed, and I have always preferred that because it saves time. When I used it on our backyard, it took hardly any time at all. It was fast and easy. But I had to switch the shoulder strap over to my opposite shoulder several times due to the weight of it. I was able to control it fairly well, and putting it together was a breeze. Overall, the Cub Cadet SS 470 is a very good buy for the money, especially for anyone in the lawn care business, as it is fast and efficient.

Powerful, lightweight, works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Cub Cadet trimmer is really nice. A quality made product. It’s lightweight, starts easy, cuts good, has plenty of power and it’s reliable. I’ve had it about a month now and haven’t had any issues. It starts up the first time, every time. Trimming the yard is easier with this and takes less time. I’d highly recommend this product. It doesn’t disappoint.

Works and runs great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my 470 almost 4 years now.. I love the power it gives.. like any product, parts will wear.. the nice thing about this product is that every part is easily replaceable.. so.. I've had to replace the recoil on year 3..cheap part and easy fix.. then a new head filled with string yet.. $20.. then the clutch/ drive shaft broke.. I even replaced and fixed that.. I hope they keep making the parts as it seems this model can't be bought anymore which is a bummer.. it does look like the 490 is about the same thing for a little more $
