EGO String Trimmer with Line IQ with Battery
Best trimmer I have ever owned. The automatic line feed works great. My old trimmer string would jam up every 6 to 8 feet. This has saved my back and cut my trimmer time in half since I don't need to stop and fix jams. I have a 3/4 acre lot and the battery still had some charge left in it when I finished. It took me about 45 minutes to do my yard. Recommend picking up the strap. For the price the strap should come with it, especially since they supply the bracket for the strap with the trimmer. I haven't tried the powerload function yet because it comes with string loaded in it and an extra string to load when you run out.

This thing is POWERFUL
I used it right out of the box. I already had a charged battery from another piece of EGO equipment, and it already came preloaded with line. Took about 5min to assemble (came folded in half in the box and assembled with a single screw with an included tool) and it was running immediately. Even on "low" speed it was slicing through thick weeds like butter with no tangles or even bogging down like my 2-cycle trimmer. This thing is an absolute beast and I would recommend it to ANYONE. Get one. You will not regret it.

Powerful, heavy, awkward, tends to tangle
Quite powerful, heavy, and because of its fixed head very awkward to use along a fence or border. The lady it was bought for has to rest the motor on her shoulder and awkwardly operate power control lever in order to get enough angle on the head, when trimming along fences or flower garden borders, to keep from wiping out a 16"-wide area of grass adjoining the fences and borders. Seems to tangle when it gets down to last six feet or so of "string", necessitating removing the cap from the string winder to remove remaining string. Super easy to re-string.

String trimmer
Overall it works OK. However unlike my other ego tools this one is definitely less powerful than my previous gas powered trimmers. When trying to trim around a smaller obstacle, the line wraps around it and it pulls out a bunch of line. The line IQ seems to keep feeding the line out and I like not having to bump the bottom to load more line. I think it will be OK but when trimming around things, because it grabs and pulls out a lot of line, I fear it will waste a lot of line. Not sure how it will do on thick grass and weeds because the grass has not grown that much yet. I really like my ego mower and blower a lot, but the trimmer is just OK so far.

Incredible trimmer!
2-stroke power without the mess or fuss. I have a decent sized yard and can trim and edge twice on one charge with juice left over. The auto feed system works incredibly well. So well that I don't even notice it. (But it's doing its job. The cord length is always perfect)
I'm 6' and don't have to hunch over which really saves my back. I attached a shoulder strap to the mount that came with it and it balances so well that I barely have to touch the trimmer outside of pulling the trigger. I tried the 2nd speed setting once but didn't need it. Just the "low" setting is more than enough to get the job done.
I wish I would have bought one sooner.

A pleasant change from my gas trimmer.
The trimmer was simple to assemble. It's balance and weight is close to that of my gas trimmer but it is much easier to use, simply install the battery and start trimming. No time wasted mixing gas and oil and getting the engine started and warmed up. I started with a fully charged battery and when I completed trimming the yard still had mor than a half a charge. The IQ line adjust worked with no problems. I have not had to load new string yet so can't speak to that. The only negative I have is it doesn't come with a shoulder strap and it heavy enough that it would be nice to have one. It remains to be seen how well the battery holds up.

Ego doesn't disappoint!
Coming from last year's model this one is definitely needed. It elimates the need to bump for more line. The model that you have to bump works fine but this one is definitely kicks it up a notch. It kick out more line when you need it after the string gets to a certain level. When edging, it doesn't kick out like it should at times. Normally, I just give it a few shakes or stop it completely and then turn it back on full throttle and it kicks out no problem. Other than that, it is convenient is worth the upgrade, especially with that 4ah battery!

totally satisfied- (Definitely get the 4 or 5 Amp hour batteries, and the shoulder strap, though). Cuts well, quiet, never had a problem with the auto feed. Tackles large weeds (even pokeweed stalks). No strain on back like previous trimmers (even though I am hobbit sized)

I am a man of few words ( not really) I have been buying cordless trimmers for over 40 years. This is the best one I have ever owned. The IQ line advance works great. I have a large yard with a good amount of trimming and this baby does the job Quality product. .Highly recommend.

Ego is huge time saver!
I was having some issues with a two stroke trimmer and decided to try out a full bore electric. This 16 inch trimmer is a huge time saver. The line autoloader would have been enough to selle on the trimmer. I was a little skeptical about the auto advance but it too is awesome. It took about three or four advances until i felt confortable and kind of knew when it would advance. This too is a hige time saver. The feeling is no different than when you do a bump head bump on a normal trimmer its just that it does it on its own.
Oh, the power this thing has is over the top. I was trimming for fourty minutes or so and it used less than half the battery.

Goodbye Stihl, hello Ego!
Fantastic weed eater! It is powerful, cuts extremely well and is lightweight. Battery lasts about an hour and recharges quickly. My property looks better than it has in years because the weed eater is so user friendly and starts so easily. No more spark plugs and constantly trying to get my Stihl (that cost twice as much) to start while destroying my shoulder.

Power load with iq trimmer
Good product. They have combined all the issue of previous trimmers. Lighter with the carbon fiber; speed control; you can set to different sizes; the iq line oh my who does that Can we say AWESOME cant forget about the no bump to get string out can’t wait till summer.

Great trimmer that WILL run for a full hour +!!
I used my EGO Power string trimmer for the first time on 05/31/2022. I was a bit leery as to the claim of the trimmer running for an hour. I was pleasently surprised that the trimmer did indeed run for the full hour and then some. The battery was in the RED zone, but the trimmer still kept running. I ran out of areas to trim!! It's a very nice trimmer and does an excellent job. I would reccommend to anyone getting the same trimmer as I did to invest in the optional shoulder strap right away. It's not terribly heavy, but if you trim for a full hour as I did, it gets a bit heavy. Overall, a very nice unit that does an excellent job of trimming.

Game Changer!
Finally went with this newest trimmer from ego after debating getting a battery trimmer the last couple of years and boy am I glad I did! The line iq is a game changer! Power line loading, holds lots of line, great not having to fuss with it. Makes trimming much less of a chore. Long battery life, telescoping pole.. very happy with this purchase!

Wow, just WOW
"Power Beyond Belief" is an understatement. This thing will bring out your inner Tim Allen and cause an unintended grunt! Yeah, it's a bit heavy for a battery powered string trimmer, but it honestly outperforms my gas one and blows my old 18 volt trimmer out of the water. I'm still not sure how the "Line IQ" works, but it does, and it works well. After trimming my entire yard, I still have 2/3 of a battery left and it's hungry for more. I decided to put it to the test and trim some two foot tall / thick weeds and it didn't even blink. No slowing down, no stalling, just straight up weed whacking carnage!

Phenomenal and frikken amazing.
all i can say is phenomenal i have always been a gas blower and weed eater guy but with todays technology this is frikken awesome no more gas and oil mixing just load and go if the battery needs charged you have time to relax while it charges no hurries 100 percent of the time it will outlast what you have to trimi recommend these lawn tools to everyone you will not go wrong.

New features, old string jam problem.
Got this trimmer because my old EGO trimmer would no longer load string. It was under warranty so I sent it off but don’t know when I will ever get it back so bought the latest one and will keep my old one for backup. The new one works fine except it stopped feeding string. Had to pry it open and replace the string which happens to all string trimmers. It seems like it is harder to trim lawn edges with than my old trimmer. I think I will overcome this as I use it more. It’s nice that it auto feeds the string but I wish I could force it to feed manually when I want the string longer. I miss having that control over the string.

this thing is the bomb !
its much lighter, strong spinning to cut up stuff , charge last me a good while , took a break charged it up again in 25 minutes. get this one with self loading lines and adjustment ,it’s simple to do .. most people sleep on this technology but. im so glad i purchased this . makes doing my yard work of 23 acres much easier

I used this trimmer for both trimming and edging my lawn and I was awesome. I never had to stop reloading the string or bump it to extend the string during the work and it was all automatically done via the Line IQ. Also, I was able to complete a big job in much less than the past using a different brand of cordless string trimmer. The battery is large and somewhat heavy, but if you have strong arms and shoulders then it shouldn't be a problem for you. I give this trimmer a Five Star and a thumbs up. Line IQ technology is a great product improvement over other brands of string trimmers whether cordless, corded or gasoline-powered.

Power & Portability of Gas, Ease of Electric.

Power, durable, great features (Line IQ!)
I've been using this trimmer for a couple months now. Powerful enough that I've only needed the first speed setting, but nice to know there's more power available. Bought tool only, and Ego battery from lawnmower works great in it—I can mow and trim my whole modestly-sized yard on one charge! Speaking of the battery, charges quick, 30-45 minutes from nearly empty to full. Using it for edging has been fine, just readjust the handle and it does what I need comfortably. The line auto-load/wind is a great feature, one of the reasons I was drawn to this one. Plus, the tool just feels sturdy and not too heavy. Looking forward to many years to come with this tool!

IMHO it's superior to my ICE equipment, no cap.
Relative to my gas powered trimmer this product is superior. Objective and tangible improvements are: speed control, line loading, auto feed and low noise. Subjectively speaking, I appreciate the lack of fumes and high decibels. Typically after mowing and trimming the vibration form the ICE engines tend to fatigue my arms an legs a good deal. With this trimmer and the EGO mower there is much less impact on my body. I did the yard the other day and didn't break a sweat. Yet to be determined is the life of the product. My ice equipment lasted 10+ years. The warranty on the battery is 3 years.

light, powerful and convenient
It took me a few goes to get used to using this thing its light and has plenty of power for the weedeating but the refill was the awkward part. I was used to removing the cap and winding the string and that whole jazz but with this, you load the string through until its evenly distributed across both end then press the autowinder button. It takes 30 seconds once you get the hang of it and there after but several minutes up until that point. Once you get it, you’ll love it.

Just Buy it, totally worth it!!
This has to be the best Trimmer I have ever purchased, very powerful and the string IQ is amazing, and the quick load with a touch of a button is pure genius, I now have a complete set of EGO products for my yard, Mower, Blower and now this awesome trimmer.

Excellent product!
This trimmer far exceeded my expectations! It is powerful and did everything perfectly as described in the ads and packaging material. It cut through heavy tall grass and small growth even without going into the higher speed setting. The battery lasted about a hour and took less than an hour to charge. Because of the amount of area I trim having a second battery would have been more convenient. However, the during the charging time I was able to complete cleanup around the area just trimmed and do a few other outdoor tasks. I would highly recommend this trimmer to anyone that has some heavy duty trimming to do!

Disappointed!!!
I am (was) a long time EGO customer along with my family. Recently, I had another trimmer I owned that the battery stopped charging. Because of the pandemic and other family emergencies, I was unable to report the issue within the warranty period (I missed this my a little over a month). I called and explained my circumstances to the representative and she basically said too bad. This is not the level of service I expected from a brand like EGO. This is not the way you treat a loyal customer. Unfortunately, I will no longer be a customer. There are other brands out there that care more about their customers. I though EGO was one of those brands. It appears, I was mistaken.
