Hi Karin9319: Cat litter tends to be made up of a synthetic blend which will not break down in a worm farm or pet poo. This is also the case if the cat litter is labelled organic - it still contains synthetic components which will not break down.

Hi Vear8: The Tumbleweed compost units should not discharge any unpleasant smell. If the unit does, it could be caused by adding too much organic compost. To address this issue, I would recommend add the Tumbleweed compost conditioner to balance the PH levels. Regards

Worms are not included. These would need to be purchased separately, they are readily available - no difficulty in finding compost worms 

Hi Mamalolo17, During the winter season compost worms will be dormant and non active. They can certainly survive the winter duration, and be ready the following season. Regards

Hi Mamalolo17 We recommend an ornamental garden only. So avoid any herb or edible garden area if adding dog waste to the pet poo. Here is the long answer. Worms actually eat the microbes, bacteria (pathogen), and any other fungi in the worm farm/ compost bin. The microbial activity is what actually breaks down the food - not the worms. The greater the amount of microbial activity the hotter and quicker the scraps breaks down. For every 1 microbe a worm eats it poos (Castings) 20 more. This is why casting are so much maybe valuable both in crop yield, soil benefits and price in comparison to regular compost.
