How to you drain water from this unit
Hi, Fk1223. We appreciate you reaching out with your question regarding the Midea 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner. During dehumidifying modes, you'll remove the upper drain plug from the back of the unit, install the drain connector (5/8" universal female mender) with a 3/4" hose (locally purchased). For the models without drain connector, just attach the drain hose to the hole. You'll then place the open end of the hose directly over the drain area in your basement floor. Can you adjust temperate control and switch from AC to Fan mode using google home voice control OR only on and off with google home voice assistant?

Whats the wattage like? I'm thinking of buying one for my RV... which means running it on inverter... will 3000 watts inverter be enough for it?

Other buyers: What noise level do you get on low? I get 60 decibels using a phone app called Decibel Meter. Before I exchange the unit I am curious if anyone is below 50 as advertised.
Answering my own question. Getting 55db now. Average noise level. Disappointed but keeping the unit for the rest of the feature. Glad I got it on sale. $599 would have been too expensive for this noise level.

A complete waste of time
We drove from the west end of Toronto to scarborough to buy this air conditioner. When we got it home and out of the box we saw a big warning sticker on the back of the unit saying to “only plug into a single circuit outlet”. This extremely important information was nowhere on the box. As the room we needed to cool does not have a single circuit outlet this was an extreme waste of the better part of a day. The Rona associate we spoke to said that this would work in any room. Clearly that was incorrect. The packaging needs to be clearer and the people selling them need to be more knowledgeable. Taking my business elsewhere from now on.

Great Features But Louder Than Expected
I bought this unit about a month ago. I am very pleased with the features (didn't have the network issue mentioned in the other review at all). I am disappointed with the noise level though. I bought this unit because it was the lowest decibels I could find. On the lowest setting I measure 60db on my phone instead of the 40db advertised. I called support and they said 60 is still acceptable. For the price though, I may as well have gone with a cheaper unit.

Exactly what I needed
Purchased last week to glad a temporary solution until my central air is replaced.
The sound of unit is not bad at all and cools quickly. In a closed room format it is of course very cool and in an open concept will dissipate but still quite confortable. Very easy to set up - install guide is good - and Has a lot of smart features that I have not yet used.
Purchased in sale for 479, if I remember correctly.

Incorrect labelling re: window sizes
I chose this unit specifically because it stated that it would fit in a window opening that was 18-48", and my window was 18.5". However, the included panels are 26.5" long, with a 24" joining piece that cannot be used alone. Hence, the minimum window size is in fact 26.5", not 18". I checked the manual thoroughly, and found no indication of how to resolve this discrepency. I supposed I could cut the panel down to size, but this would void my ability to return the unit if I was unsatisfied with it. I called Midea customer service, and was told that my unit probably had the wrong parts put in by mistake. So I replaced it, only to find the same panels in the new unit.
Midea: Please either fix your innacurate labelling, or provide clear instructions on how to make the unit work with windows under 26.5".

Nearly Perfect
We've been using this unit for a couple days now and it has been fantastic. You get all the necessary features and then some. The smart controls app via Android (or iPhone) works great, I turned on the unit with my phone when I was at the Hospital with my pregnant wife and sure enough it had the place cooled down when we got home. On the topic of cooling capacity, we use it to cool our living room which is about 15' x 25' without issue. The unit claims 45 db on sleep mode which we haven't tested but I'd say it's not much louder than that during regular operation and it's not obtrusive to regular conversation or TV watching. It has washable air filters and 2 window extensions in addition to the one with the exhaust attachment
The only gripe I have with the unit is the drainage set up, you can leave it closed until it "fills up" however I wish it had a valve because you can't empty it without having to pull a plug first. Of course continuous drainage is possible into a container using the included 1.5 ft tube or just buy longer tubing to drain outside. Also had no issues with it being transported on its side, the box said to leave it upright for 2 hours before using the unit.
Overall, maybe a little pricier than some comparable LG or Toshiba units but it's worth it for the features and lack of noise.

Keeps room cool
I just bought this a week ago, its easy to install, I had to cut the plastic down to size to fit my window. Its a little noisy then expected, the hose for some reason gets really warm. The smart function is not supported on my phone tried numerous times to load it so disappointed on that I can't use that. Machines is not worth the $600 should gone with a lower btu and one that is compatible. Also at 81lbs it is not portable very heavy

There is nothing SMART about this unit
I bought this unit becuase my number 1 priority was to have something that I could control via my network as it was going into our little ones bedroom. Let me tell you - there is nothing "SMART" about my experience with their "technology" This label should not be used to describe what we've been through just to try to get it going with their "mobile app"
1. QR Codes on the unit are being rejected by their application as illegal.
2. You are asked to forget all networks on your phone but for the one that you are going to use for the unit. I have many different networks in our home and found this request to be silly.
3. You have to complete everything within a 8 min time frame or everything resets
Very poor instructions.
The AC is nice and cold but I would expect this to be the case as I purchased a much bigger unit than the room would even require as I was looking for "SMART" technology
NOT HAPPY ONE BIT
