Technically no but we found we had to sand every piece. Everything was so rough.

what is the square footage of this chair? how much wood finish would i need for 3 chairs? I"m assuming I need to cover the back/bottom, etc as well.

Are they finished
No. They come unfinished. I gave mine a light sanding before assembly and then painted it with outdoor paint. You could also use a stain and sealant.

Is this pressure treated pine?
No this is not pressure treated. You will want to give the parts a bit of sanding before assembly and it will stand up to the weather better with paint or other finish.

I cannot find the weight rating on these chairs. Does anyone know what the maximum weight rating is?
I was looking into these chairs on another website, but they were sold out. That website has a rating of 441 lbs for the max weight.

Can these chairs be painted?
Absolutely thes chairs can be painted. Like any wood project the chair parts should be sanded before assembly. The wood material I selected was pine and it was of good quality and very easy to paint. The brighter the colour the better. We are using our chairs on the vineyard in B.C.

Most chairs are too short in the seat to knee area - what do yours measure ?
I'm 6 feet tall and am really comfortable in this chair.

Great chair!
I bought two of these. They're very affordable. It is a bit of project though because they don't come finished, but I was looking for something to keep me busy anyway. The most difficult part was getting the boards for the backrest looking evenly spaced. Other than that the instructions are straight forward. I'd buy more and I'd recommend these to my friends.

Affordable. Good quality. Good support.
Bought this a month ago, just in time for summer. Assembling this product was quick and easy. Used power drill on low torque (use with care)- using a hand screwdriver would take a lot longer. Chair is a good size for any adult. Very comfortable. I bought two of these chairs for around $65 on sale. Would not recommend spending more on an expensive chair. This one gets the job done

Best Deck chairs ever!
I purchased two of these chairs about 6 years ago. We painted them after the first summer season. They lived outdoors in Calgary on a covered deck, they are superbly designed and will last for years. I’ve had other examples by different manufacturers but these chairs top them all. Put them together with glue and you will love them.

First, it's Canadian. Had to buy it from a US conglomerate but it's
Canadian. Second it's not foldable like so many Muskoka chairs. I am treating that as a good thing because chair seems much more rigid than my foldable ones. I purchase three.I am not sure how long it took me to assemble the first chair but the other two came it at fifty minutes. I was alone and used a powered screwdriver.and I used carpenters glue on all joints as recommended. It would have been nice to have a helper for step two just as a holder. The chair is assembled in two pieces the seat and the back so two people could work independently and save a lot of time. The instructions are clear. Look closely at the diagram for step 3 for the one inch measurement, I am sure they have put this together many times but I found that attaching the two small end slats first and then the center helped line up the screws with the supports.another small complaint is that it is supplied with the combination screws Robertson and Phillips. I suppose they have to but it would have gone easier with the Robertson screws that sit nicely on your driver.
Next I sanded and used Cetol Marine stain from my friendly marine store. It took just over an hour per chair and I will put on another coat.
That's it I am happy with the product so far the proof will be in another three to five years.

I bought two of these chairs when there was a promotion for free shipping. They were delivered in the morning and we were sitting on the deck by noon.

Not worth it
Truly such a pain to put these together, I wish I spent the extra money and got other chairs. It would be so much better if they even just provided spacers or made it easier for where the pieces go, it’s entirely up to you and sometimes things don’t match up exactly or the “pre drill holes” were not even there. The instructions were also barely instructions, the video they say to watch was also not that helpful. They do look great though but they need more sanding as the edges are very rough, I really wish I didn’t go through this effort.

Bof! ok une fois assemblée
Beaucoup de points négatifs. - La finition est horrible en sortant de la boite, 2 heures de sablage - les instructions d'assemblage sont mauvaises, aller voir la vidéo pour aider, les 2 ensembles c'est mieux - pour sauver un sac de plastique à .5 cents, les vis sont mélangées et elle se ressemblent beaucoup donc si vous faite pas attention en partant, il y a 2 sortes de vis vous pourriez le regretter pendant l'assemblage et ne vous fiez pas aux instructions pour que ça soit claire. - Pin blanc, c'est mou donc facile à endommager - Pour sauver quelques $, beaucoup de travail de sablage, peinture, assemblage donc la prochaine pour moi ça ne sera pas celle-là.
Une fois assemblé, très confortable par contre mais ça c'est vrai pour toutes les chaises adirondack.
Je ne recommande pas vraiment.

Very comfortable
Just bought 2. The pine is of good quality and everything assembled with good fit. Each took about 90 minutes with some sanding before assembly ease corners, particularly in areas difficult to sand after assembly. I am waiting for warmer weather to apply solid stain.
I bought these after seeing an assembled chair at the store and found it to be nearly perfect for sitting comfortably. Many chairs recline much to far.
All Canadian made in Ontario from domestic white pine.

Muskoka Chair Kit by Bear Chair Company
This kit took all day to assemble, the instructions in the box where hard to understand and didn't seem to work with what was provided. Getting the back slats equally spaced was tricky. It was a pain to assemble but my wife loves it. Comfortable for her body type. Would be a snug fit for bigger people. Good value, but better value if the instructions had more picture.

Great product
I bought four. The first one wasn’t easy to built considering the poor quality of the instruction, but the second one and so where a breeze, maybe an hour per chair. I did them all alone, but if you got help, it should be even faster.
They look great and the quality seems good.

Excellent value!
I bought two chairs. Taking my time, the sanding and assembly (with screws and wood glue) took several hours over two days. Then I finished them with spar varnish. This is my second pair of chairs: the first two are still functional in the garden after six years.

Arm rest sides rough and with splinters
I bought this for my mom and she finds the angle not inclined enough. I had a hard time in assembling the chair. One side of support for the arm rest at the back does not aligned properly so I need to put some force to be able to screw them together.

With the YouTube video they provide, the chair is not as bad to put together as people say. We put together 2 chairs in about 2.5 hours. The finished product is beautiful, sturdy, and comfortable. Once stained it should last a long time.
