Description
Construite en acier galvanisé de la plus haute qualité, cette boîte à couvercle verrouillable est durable et faite pour durer. Inexpensive ash bucket for fireplace or wood stove
I use one of these 6 gallon Behrens buckets to receive hot ashes from my wood stove. The locking bail and tightly sealing lid gives me confidence when I empty ashes and embers into it: because the bail locks the lid when in the carry position; it will not spill its contents if an accident over turns it.
The quality is old time American-made--heavy gauge steel, deep galvanizing and perfect fit.
I have another one to store dog food outside. Hung upon a carabineer hook under the deck, it cannot be reached by the dog, and the locking bail should frustrate willy raccoons while the tight seal keep flies and ants out, too.

Holds ~30lbs of mixed bird seed.
I buy 40lb bird seed bags, of which about 30lbs will fit in this bucket. I have two of these but only use one for the seed.
The only 'tricky' thing about it may be the handle. I have to be sure to pull it down, out or away before rotating it above the lid -- otherwise the rounded ends get caught on the holes. This isn't a big deal though! These buckets are great.
I couldn't find them on the website when searching under 'bucket' but then remembered they were sold in the store near the garbage cans and so that's what I searched under. These should also be listed under buckets because they DO have a carrying handle. They're metal with lids so I guess that makes them 'cans' though.

Dog Poop Bucket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was always a fan of using bags and placing each outside the garbage can or just simply placing inside the garbage can. With the summer months being so hot/humid the smell was almost overwhelming the yard. Needed some change so I purchased this bucket with a thought of enclosing the odor and ridding the flies...this bucket has done just that. The seal is great and the locking lid ensures the seal. Great buy! Great bucket!

LID IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ON
Love the can itself, but the matching lid is IMPOSSIBLE to get on, it's so small. I understand that it is supposed to be a locking lid, but if you can't actually get it on the can, the whole point is moot. I suppose that if I had held it in place and my husband beat on it with a rubber mallet, it MIGHT possibly have gone on (I still don't think it would have) but then how would you get the lid back off? With a crowbar? I'm holding the lid down with duct tape right now, which is a huge pain but the only way to keep the birdseed safe from critters, which was the whole point of buying a metal can with a lid in the first place.

I wish I'd fitted the lid on in the store and played with the handle before I purchased this thing. The bucket's fine, but that handle is simply too short. It's designed obviously to keep the lid in place, but it really requires some strenuous effort to get it over the lid in the first place and the darn thing binds up every time. I can wrestle it into place after a few minutes, but my poor wife has a hard time pulling the handle over the lid. And the lid is so tight that every time it comes off, the ash inside ends up being lifted up with it. I don't know why they designed it this way--it seems an engineering team put some real effort into making this infinitely more difficult than it needs to be!

As useful as a bucket !
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My garden is evolving more rustic as it grows and I prefer the look of the galvanized buckets over clay pots. Every winter I lose clay pots as they crack under cold conditions but the galvanized buckets remain intact. Drill a hole for excess water to drain out the bottom and start planting. This 6 gallon size is bigger than the 10 inch plants and can be perfect for potting up. The buckets hold the ground tight in storm winds and I have not had one turned over. In addition different sizes and capacities give you variety and this is my 4th year using them with outstanding results.

Bigger than I expected. Just what I needed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this as a store pick up. When I was handed this at the store my first impression was, "wow this is bigger than expected". It turned out to be just what I needed to clean out my fireplace. After three cleanings it's half full. I have a small fireplace insert so it's too big to keep by the fireplace, so I just keep it in the garage. Having the lid makes me feel more secure about any hot embers that might be left. The lid fits securely in place. I had my fireplace cleaned a few days after I purchased this and I showed it to my chimney sweep and he thought it was great and wanted to know where I got it so he could get one. Very satisfied with purchase.

Does a great job.
Bought this can to use for disposing of fire place ashes. We live in a wooded area and needed some way to store ashes until we were sure all the embers were extinguished. The lid fits very tight and the bail lifts up over the lid to lock it in place. Six gallon size is easy to handle. We are more than satisfied with this product.
