I have a nest thermostat but a separate unit to control the humidity and need to get something that will not run water all the time or is more sensitive than the one I have
The model 1000 humidifier is 100% water efficient, all the water consumed is delivered to the air. The unit is controlled by a mechanical humidistat which will cycle the drum motor ON & OFF based on humidity level. All our available control units have the same accuracy +/-5%.

does this unit mount from the sides or top and bottom? is it one piece or 3 , 2 sides / cover and pan?
It mounts from the sides and is 4 pieces. Two sides, top cover, and pan.

What clearance do you need? My furnace duct work has limited clearances, so I am wondering how much this unis sticks out once installed.

Fair price but gaskets missing.
Instruction is clear. Price is better than any other humidifiers. I was gonna tie it to furnace but soon realized that thing is not even gonna run in summer so I plugged in the transformer instead. Cutting holes was painful because mine has pipes and ducts in the way. Drilling small holes and repeatedly bending the metal back and forth will help you if you have space issue as well.
It doesn't have gaskets as indicated by the instruction! Whatever, it is only for air seal so no big deal. Only small amount of air leaks through the tiny gaps which doesn't affect anything.
Overall good product. It is certainly better than my old junky leaking fin filter style humidifier

Mauvaise qualité
L'ensemble valve et flotteur était défectueuse et j'ai dû le remplacer à la première utilisation. Une fuite continue provenait de la valve. Après des démarches par téléphone et par courriel, une nouvelle valve m'a été transmise. J'ai donc passé beaucoup de temps à essayer de faire fonctionner cet humidificateur en plastique fragile et de qualité médiocre. Prenez un modèle de qualité supérieure car je regrette mon achat et je crains sur sa durabilité à moyen et long termes.

Works well, but cheap as can be.
Purchased this to replace my 30 year old humidifier. I have to say upon opening the box this has to be the most cheaply made humidifier ever. Everything is plastic, very flimsy, the water float is a joke as it hardly shuts off, a few plastic pieces were warped, the drum is hilariously out of round.
However for $100 what do you expect, after screwing with it for hours to install the 100 different pieces I got it working. Humidity is up and everything works-ish. Just don't expect any sort of quality.

Terrible quality
Poor quality, flimsy plastic. Water metering valve is all plastic, plastic nut that holds unit in place damages threads on inlet. Drum was severely distorted in sealed, undamaged box. Instruction booklet arranged incorrectly. I'll use this until it needs to be replaced, then upgrade to a higher quality unit.

It works
This product is made from a cheap flexible plastic, the new style float valves sucks! A friend has the old style and it's a lot easier to adjust.
If you want cheap, this is for you, but if you are willing to pay more and assuming that by paying more, you will get a better product.

Great Humidifier.
Easy to install, works like a charm. Wiring is simple to navigate unlike my former Honeywell with 3 separate systems to check if the furnace is running.
