Clogs with very little debris
I purchased these to keep large leaves and twigs from entering my downspouts and clogging them. While they worked for this purpose, I actually found my gutters overflowing much more often than before. The reason was that these screens would clog up with small amounts of tree debris that would normally pass right through the downspout. May work for some folks, but not for me.

3" Aluminum Downspout Strainer
So far so good. Not too difficult to install but screw in gutter kept me from putting it in the down spout the depth that I would have liked. I am no pro, so there is probably a way to do it.
I'm am still glad I bought it.

Absolutely worthless product for downspouts
I purchased these because my downspouts were always clogged with debris. This DOES prevent the debris from going down the downspout but it also prevents the WATER from draining as well. A few weeks after installing these in all my downspouts we had a torrential rain and all of the gutters were overflowing. After the rain was over I removed several pounds of wet debris that had stacked up on the sides and top of the strainers preventing any water from draining out. Returned all of the strainers to Lowes. Do not buy unless you want to be unclogging the strainers in the rain!

Works well!
I bought one of these last year to try out and it worked very well. So I decided to get one for all of the downspouts. Easy fix for downspout problems of getting plugged up.

Good product, simple purpose simple use.
I like that they are expandable, I was able to stretch them out so they fit my 4 inch downspouts.

Best Remedy for Clogged Downspouts!
We have some trees that shed leaves in fall and some that shed in the spring, requiring twice yearly gutter cleaning. Leaves kept clogging downspouts, sometimes requiring disassembly of downspout to clear blockage - most inconvenient. Since these guards were installed 18 months ago, downspouts stay open.

Downspout strainer
After a major hassle to clean out a downspout clogged with a mixture of twigs and cedar tree needles I decided to do something to prevent future buildup. I found this strainer at my local Lowe's. It looked good, was modestly priced and easy to install. I will be able to tell more as this fall progresses, but I think it will solve the problem.

Clogs up, does not let near enough water thru.
Works more like a leaf dam for your rain gutter downspout. Water can barely flow thru. The leaves and trash just clog up around it. We have cleaned the gutters out twice since we installed this.

stopped up downspouts
My gutters were overflowing, thought if I put these up, they would keep the downspouts from getting clogged. They did work for that, but now the water can't get to the downspouts because these stop everything, even small pieces from going down the gutter. This made the problem worse.

I don't have any trees in my yard, and after one year or less, it got stopped up. Leaving water sitting in the gutter and creating algae. Don't waste your money and time. I had bought them to keep the squirrels out.
