Are the spaces in mesh Small enough to capture chipmunks??
We are returning this trap as no matter how difficult we make it for the bait to be taken the trap does not close and the food is gone including burying it ina small hole as recommended by Havahart. Cannot recommend this trap. ,

Does the trick humanely
I have owned this new easy-set model for one week. It’s a one-handed process to set it vs the original model that you have to fiddle with. It’s also a bit larger which is preferable. It is well made and will last for my lifetime.
I have relocated seven squirrels and two pack rats in five days. The critters are now living in paradise at a nature park.
Be sure to check the trap constantly. It would be horrid to bake a little one; setting it in the shade will help some. Talking to the animals does calm them. Please be cognizant of where you release; fresh water along with lots of trees and greasy areas. Hopefully all will reunite as a family unit in their new digs. Put a towel down under the trap on your passenger seat just in case it pees or poops. I can now go back to planting again and not deal with a mess at the bird feeders or tip toes in my attic.

18 squirrels so far!
I have far too many squirrels and live in an area where killing rodents is frowned upon. In fact, many in my community will nurse the lost babies and dazed and flattened road squirrels back to health. In 2 months, I have now relocated 18 squirrels to a much better environment. Bating the trap is simple with a little rice cake and peanut butter, but squirrels are idiots and the last 8 have been caught with an empty trap. 5 stars!! A Great Tool
This trap cage is both non-invasive in footprint and very safe for the animals. It is also easy to set-up.
I support many bird types in my yard which means that I use many feeders including expensive mealworm for blue-birds and the squirrels started scavenging the whole thing a year ago. I did not like to use the poison bait as a creek borders my backyard with a variety of life-forms, including Possums.
I opted to try this “Havahart” cage and I was very happy with it from day one. I relocate the trapped squirrels into a distant wood with more natural food and space for them. The cage is very efficient and non-threatening so that occasionally I have to release a greedy cardinal or two… In addition, the first 2 or 3 squirrels I picked up displayed fear and aggression all the way to the car but after a year of usage something interesting is happening. There are a few seconds of panic from a new catch as I pick up the cage and then, when I speak to it, it stops. The squirrel remains calm (not frozen in fear) all the way to the car and it is just as quiet when I open the trunk and place the cage on the floor for its release. In addition, I always do a release at the same place in the wood so that the colony will reform itself. I do not clean the cage so it is possible that the scent of prior occupants keep a new catch more calm. The whole thing is so non-dramatic and totally safe that I am glad I found this gentle and efficient trap.

Robust Design, Easy to Use, and Extemely Effective
I have used EZSet Trap for several weeks for trapping squirrels. A squirrel gets trapped every time I set it up. Compared with the X-Small model, which is also very effective in trapping squirrels, EZSet is easier to set up. The door does not trip if the trap is nudged by an inquisitive squirrel. With the smaller model I had instances when an agitated squirrel rolled the trap on a side causing the door to open and escaped. That can not happen with EZSet trap. It is great value for money.

Great cage, but if your trying to catch a flying squirrel this won't work. They are to light to activate the trap. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great Product !
I bought the 1083 model for trapping nuisance squirrels and it it perfect for the job.
I trapped 4 squirrels on the first day, This trap works like magic and it is very easy to operate, I used peanuts in shell and sunflower seeds and the trap never failed.
Quality product made in USA.

Great for smallish animals
Had squirrel in attic. Put the bait in. 5 minutes later I had a squirrel in the trap. Took it to a park and released it. Just know it is not big enough for raccoons or large skunks.
