Manufacturing Defects
Washer #1: The first washing machine I ordered was discovered to be badly broken from the factory (the shipping box had absolutely no damage, and I was present when the unit was unpacked). That unit was returned and a replacement ordered...
Washer #2: This second model seemed fine at first, but after running the first load I discovered a pinhole leak in the middle of the drain hose. Ordering a replacement is almost impossible.
I give these TWO washing machines a combined score of one star because according to LG's descriptions two stars is "Fair", three stars is "Average", etc. One star is "Poor", and that's the only label that fits.

Good for lots of laundry
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a BIG washer. It seems like it uses the same amount of water no matter the size of the load, which is disappointing. I try to only do big loads now, which isn't a huge deal, but also isn't always possible. Also, when I did the mattress pad and the king bedspread together, they fit, but it made the washer unbalanced and it could not handle the heaviness of these two items together. So, even though it is big enough for lots of things, it's best for individual clothing items rather than big bed linens. I do like how quiet it is and the clear glass top--it's fun to watch!

Works great, is efficient and quiet
I was concerned when I read reviews about this washer but found it highly rated on some of the various consumer sites. This is a water saver washer so it WILL NOT fill up like old models, there is nothing wrong with the washer. you MUST use HE detergent (already used to this from my front loader). I put my clothes and detergent in, turn dial to normal and go. this washes a load much faster than my old front loader and is quieter. you do need to take the closes out or open the lid after the wash or it will get a funny smell. This is the same issue as with front loaders. I have used some of the other wash choices and have had no issues with any of them.

Great washer, hard to level
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've been very happy with our new LG washing machine. It can do larger loads of laundry than our previous washer and does a great job of it. It's easy to use, doesn't make too much noise, and gets everything clean without needing an agitator.
However, I'm taking one star off for installation woes. The process requires leveling the feet before use, but the large plastic nuts are hard enough to turn to hurt my hands. I would've used a wrench, but the nuts are also too large for anything in my decent collection of tools. I would need to go out and buy a full-size pipe wrench for this one task. I got it done, but it made a rough first impression.

Change for the Better
Like every new efficient appliance, this washer requires study and experience to find the right combinations. This machine is so quiet compared to yesterday's agitator models it would be easy to dismiss it as ineffective. It's not. Take the time to understand how it WORKS, why it SOUNDS the way it does. I think you will find it does a good job, most of the time with less water. And, you can always customize a load by adding a soak, more water or an extra spin. I did have to do that when I recently washed a king size bedspread. It has more that enough capacity for that. So far, this washer has lived up to the lofty reviews.

I wish it was better
This is a great washer. It holds so many clothes. And the clothes come out feeling really clean. The final rinse and spin cycle making drying the clothes so much faster. However the settings that can be changed like hot, warm or cold water and adding a second rinse are hard to read in the dim light of my basement. And changing the settings takes forever. I was just about ready to give up when they finally changed. The detergent holder is always wet. I use a liquid detergent but if u used dry that might be a problem. And on extra dirty spots u need to prewash. But overall I am pleased with my new washer. It just could be better

The Best washer on the market, but...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do recommend this washer, because after ordering two of the same I got the best the second time. The first LG 4.5-cu ft High Efficiency Top-Load Washer (White) ENERGY STAR I ordered online early October and it was a terrible machine for a new machine - it banged heavily every time it changed functions(think train coming to station), it made the clothes all in a knot in the middle of the machine and I had to take 5 min after the load is done to untie them, it was wrongly filling up with water ready to spill out of the drum on some of the days I washed(wrong sensing). Just horrible experience! Then I replaced it with the same one and the second washer is just a dream to wash my clothes with. So if you have issues within the first 30days, replace it. You don't have to put up with a lemon.

Awful
We've had an LG top load high efficiency washer (not this precise model, but a very similar one) for a few years now. We've given up. A washing machine has one job: wash you clothes. With this one, it's something less that 50/50 odds that it will complete a cycle. It's hard to be "high efficiency" when you're constantly refilling, rebalancing, and respinning the load. A single load of wash can take most of the day to complete.
We've checked the leveling and it's perfect. We called LG and their only advice was "wash bigger loads," which was not helpful. It's time to dump it and get something that does the "one job."
