It was good until...
I bought this KDTM504EPA dishwasher in Aug 2015. I liked it very much at first, cleaned great, vert quiet, versatile to load but started having mechanical problems before the first year was up. The circular heater element in the bottom warped up so badly , the 3 arm sprayer would rub it. This was replaced under warranty but the new one did the same thing so we ended up having to wire it down to avoid scraping the arm again ( no warranty this time). Now it is flooding all over the kitchen floor. Opening the acess panel we found that water is freely shooting out of the pump. Looks like a new pump costs over $200 and that doesn’t include labor.

WIll quickly be your favourite appliance!
Full disclosure - I'm a Whirlpool employee. I don't often post reviews but this dishwasher is a game changer.
FIrst, it's so quiet that you don't know it's even running. You can run it in the middle of your open concept kitchen and it won't disrupt your life.
Second, it gets dishes spotless and DRY. You never have to use a dish towel to soak up those last bits of water.
Third, the rack flexibility is amazing. Move them up, down, and all around. Everything will fit.
I've had it for about a year and it's running just as well as it did on day 1. You will not regret this investment in your kitchen. It's not inexpensive, but it's so worth it.

Poorest Quality Yet
On my second "brand new" kitchenaid dishwasher in three weeks and have yet to get one of them to finish a cycle. The first one ran for 10 minutes, even after having most of the parts replaced. The second just overfills the unit and end the cycle full of soapy water. Extremely poor quality control. Also suggest you take a plate and glass with you. Normal size plates will not allow the top rack to be set at the lowest setting without the spray bar hitting the plates. Funny how they ask one to review performance items as part of the review. Have not been able to get that far out of the box, ON TWO UNITS.

Just Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dishwasher is so quiet, I don't know it is on. It also seems to have some of those Keebler elves inside telling it the amount of dirt and scrubbing needed. Every load (light, medium, heavy) seems to come out perfectly. The cycle might take a little longer than I expected, but for the consistent cleaning results, it is worth it. Lastly, I really like how the inside is configured. I seem to find a really good spot for different shapes and sizes. And I love the silverware tray at the top. It is easy to use and, unlike when silverware is thrown into cup-size bins, fork tines and other pieces are clean.

Great first impression
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had it for a week and have run several loads. Cleaning and drying performance is excellent. We even used the pot scrubber mode. Noise level as reported by others is very low.
Still getting use to loading it. The third rack gets in the way if you have tall glasses and plates that require the upper rack be on it's upper position. The supplemental upper rack basket takes away valuable real estate ad was quickly removed. The silverware bin with the different sized openings allows you to load it so that flatware does not nest and thereby not get cleaned.

Excellent Appliannce
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After owning a previous Kitchen Aid dishwasher for almost 20 years, I was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of my new one. The only problem I have is with the installation. They told me you had changed the design so the hoses are now mounted on the left side. Therefore, I have a large gap on the left side of the unit itself while the right side is flush against the cabinet. I am trying to figure out how to make it look central in the slot between the cabinets, but so far I can't figure out how to do it. I hired a plumber, but they told me there was nothing they could do other than tear out cabinets, which I do not want to do.

Nice light inside
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After only 8 years, our Kitchen Aid dishwasher's "Start" button no longer worked and the part was not available so we had to purchase yet another dishwasher. This one is pretty much what we had, still takes 3 hours to wash a load on Normal but it does it's thing, quietly. This one fits the custom cabinet front I had to have made for the last one, yeah!! This one also has a light inside which I never thought I needed but helps in loading and unloading. All in all it beats having to hand wash everything but sure hope it lasts longer than 8 years as it's only the 2 of us and we run it max 2x/week.

Cleans well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had to replace our 12-year-old KitchenAid. Only two brands would accept our custom panel, the panel ready Bosch and KitchenAid machines. We chose KitchenAid assuming that it would accept the panel more readily than the Bosch. Acceptance was not so easy however, creative installation was required. Anyway, the machine cleans the dishes quite well. The dishes only dry well if you use a drying aid. Even with a drying agent, the walls of the machine stay wet even though the dishes dry nicely. This requires us to leave the door open so the machine will dry out to avoid complications of staying Wet.
