Keraply latex additive
First off the title low's put on this product is misleading. You can't use this product alone to apply tile. It is liquid latex that is used to mix with dry mortar. I used it with MAPEI White Powder Polymer-Modified Mortar to install ceramic floor tile over OSB. This product will help stick tile to about anything.
I am not a professional tile installer, only a DIY home owner. Before starting my tile project I researched many forums about what the pros do to install ceramic tile in difficult locations. I found that installers recommend using a liquid latex product to mix with the thinset mortar for better results over plywood. Also you don't have to use the full 2 gallons to mix one large batch of mortar, smaller batches work better for the DIY beginner.
I have an old double wide mobile home that was made in the 70s, the floors are only 3/4" particle board with low quality vinyl linoleum. I had already install OSB on top of the old flooring but changed my mind about the floor covering. I wanted to use ceramic tile but was unsure if it would stick to the OSB. The manufactures say NO, but using the Keraply latex additive with Polymer-Modified Mortar all the tile have stayed on the floor, no loose or cracked tile. I did seal the top of the OSB before installing the tile and the OSB has a vapor barrier under it . It is installed in a dry location, don't lay tile over OSB in a bathroom.
