This thing is junk the other larger barrel chimneys that Lowes sells are great and I have worn out 3 of them but this one takes multiple times of putting newspaper into the bottom with only maybe 2 layers of charcoal to light. I would guess that if you used the self lighting charcoal you would be fine but for me that gives things a bad taste and is defeating my purpose of using a chimney. This was the only one they had at my local Lowes so I bought it and I truly regret this purchase. I would have paid twice the price of this if they would only had the ones that I have used in the past from Lowes. If I could give it minus 5 zeros I would.

Best thing smoking...
This is the greatest little chimney ever. Quick to light, a sheet or two of newspaper will do. Just remember to only let stoke until the corner turn white or you'll just cook the charcoal. A must have, I will never use expensive lighter fluid again.

Watchout when grabbing the chimney handle!?
The chimney worked great over the weeked while long smoking ~ 16 hours & 14 pounds of Stubbs brickets. The only thing that caught me was when I grabbed the chimney handle, to high up on the wood, allowing my index finger to "feel the burn?!" Didn't take long to put it back down, adjust grip, and continue on. It only happened once and that was late and being in a hurry. Recommed wearing grill gloves when using the chimney. Not essential, but, things do slip.

This really works well. Just put 2 pages from a newspaper in the bottom, fill the top with charcoal and light it. Charcoal will be ready to cook with in about 10-15 minutes

No more chemicals
I didn't realize how much the charcoal starter fluid changed the taste of food until I used the charcoal chimney. Great product and works very well.

Great Chimney
This chimney is great!!! It fits perfectly over the side burner so lighting the charcoal is easy. No electrical cords and no starting fluid smell.

Best way to light charcoal
I've been using charcoal chimney to light charcoal for 10 years. No lighter fluids needed making petroleum contamination to food none existent.
