does this item have to be outside to cook?

Posée par: Verna D
I would not use this indoors. It burns charcoal and/or wood. There is great danger of carbon monoxide poisoning

Fumoir Weber Smokey Mount, acier émaillé, 481 po², noir est évalué 4.7 de 5 de 595.
Rated 4 de 5 de par not a bad smoker 18.5 Good product. I have owned this for about a month now. I have only used it twice. (ribs 7hr cook and pork butts 11hr cook) No problem with temp control for me. I have used a kettle grill for 20+ years now. This is the 1st smoker that I have owned. The only 3 bad things I can say about it and there kinda minor. 1 wish I bought the 22 instead. my fault 2 It would be nice if the bottom grate was accessible somehow other then taking off the top grate. Not a deal breaker thou. 3 It would be nice if the top grate sat 2 inches lower or so. That way you could add a second temp probe grommet above the top rack. 1 for the lower rack and 1 for the top rack.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Top notch smoker This is my second smoker, but first Weber Smokey Mountain. I burned through two bags of charcoal to get an understanding of temperature control, but probably didn't need to. Temperature control is extremely easy once you understand how to use this smoker. On my first true attempt at smoking food, I went 8 hours at 235 (top grill temp) in sub 30 outside temps with 5-10 mph winds. I highly recommend this smoker. Buy it - you won't be disappointed!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Better than expected.... Was debating between this and a green egg, glad I ended up with this. Smoked a brisket the first day with the grill out of the box and it turned out perfect. I was also debating between the 18.5 inch and 22 inch sizes. This is plenty big. Fit a 16 lb brisket on one of the 2 available racks.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Typical Weber Quality I have smoked ribs, brisket and shoulders already. They all were very good, very easy to maintain temp, used weber woodchunks as well. I was using the large kettle with indirect baskets but it was labor intensive. This smoker needs little work once the meat is on.

Rated 5 de 5 de par This is a great smoker for the price I ordered this smoker on line and it arrived in the store ahead of the scheduled date to arrive. The only problem that I had with this smoker is with the assembly. Though it was not difficult because you only have to install the brackets for the grilling racks, the legs and heat shield. However there is a bag of bolts, washers, and nuts of different lengths and no instructions as to where which bolts should go. I ended up counting the holes on the smoker for the grilling racks and legs then counting the bolts to determine which bolts went where. After assembling the smoker I smoked a slab of baby back ribs for about 4 hours. I did not have to add any more coals, wood chips, or water to the water pan during the smoking process. I did have to adjust the dampers at the bottom a few time to control the heat never the less the ribs came out great.

Rated 5 de 5 de par BEST SMOKER This smoker is Incredible, Very high quality it holds and maintains temperature beautifully. This is a true smoker, every time I use it (which is every weekend and in between) I am always so impressed and amazed at how well it holds the temperature I adjust it to and not have to worry or keep fiddling with it (just about set it and forget it). The charcoal last a very time, after cooking I can close off the vents to snuff the charcoal out and salvage for the next cook. I could go on about perfect smoke rings on food / flavor ect. Very happy with my WSM 18", I am going to buy the smaller 14" smoker just for smoking seafood in.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good Smoker, OK Grill The smoker arrived in good condition and assembly was relatively quick and easy. I have used it a couple of times to smoke and it works great and the temp is steady. It would be better if there were handles on each compartment to make it easier to move around. Also, it is not very easy adding more charcoal or accessing the backside of the lower compartment. Also, it can be used as a grill but you will have to remove the top half and reach down the barrel of the mid section to get to what you are grilling. I am sure it could be designed to make it dual function and not as cumbersome to use for grilling.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Exceeds expectations I have been looking for the right smoker for some time now. After looking at dozens of models and reviews for those models on multiple site I settle on this. I made the right call. Easy to set up and easy to operate. Very easy to operate and maintain a even smoking temperature. The 18 inch model easily holds 6-7 racks of ribs (when using it in conjunctions with rib racks). Clean up of grates and other parts has been really easy. My only concern is on the thermostat. Saw some condensation one day inside the glass on the grill. So I am not sure if that’s typical or something I will have to replace in the near future. Would recommend to friends and would buy again in a heart beat.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Can't Believe I Waited So Long To Purchase!!! I have been contemplating purchasing this WSM 18" for the last three years. I finally bit the bullet (pun intended) and I can't stop kicking myself for not purchasing it three years ago! I prefer charcoal smokers to electric smokers. Up until now I have been using my 22" Weber Kettle Charcoal grill with indirect cooking to smoke food. Besides the great taste, I love the "tending" to the smoker that charcoal smokers require. However, I have to say that the WSM is great at holding temp once you get to the temp you desire and then close the bottom dampers to approx. 25%. This is what I love most about this product. Plus in my experience, there is no better quality in grill products as Weber.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Excellent choice! My husband is considered the bbq chef of the family & has wanted a smoker for a long time, after researching several, the Weber Smokey came out on top. It went together easily, the recipes that came with it worked wonderfully. My husband cooked baby back ribs the first night (which were fabulous) & we entertained the whole family w/ two beef briskets 2days later. Needless to say there were no leftovers. YES, definitely I would recommend this smoker!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Worth the money! If your looking for a smoker that you dont have to modify to make work right then you have found it! Works great right out the box and is easy to use! There is a reason that the Weber Smokey Mountain has all the positive reviews that it does..It is well built, well designed, and well worth the money! I suggest you get a good digital instant read thermometer for your food and a good thermometer just for the inside temperature of your smoker that will be placed where your food actually sits so you know the real temperature of what your food is being smoked at and you are all set! We have smoked a couple Boston Butts for incredible pulled pork, chicken thighs and legs with a beautiful smoke flavor over Applewood, and ST. Louis style ribs that would make ya mouth water ( let alone the neighbors while they get to smell your Bar-B-Q all day!) Enjoy food like you have only tasted at restaurants!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Absolutely Awesome! We had a smoker from another manufacture for many years, It did smoke meat, but required constant attention as it would never stabilize the temperature very well. We bought the WSM 18 a month ago and have smoked meat twice since. First smoke we did two 6+ lb Pork Shoulders for a July 4th gathering. The WSM held 255 deg with very little attention. 12 hours after the meat went on, the internal meat temps were 200 deg. Text book cook, and delicious pork. Second smoke was country ribs and chicken thighs. Again the WSM excelled. The ribs are a new favorite meal for us! The chicken went to a church social were they received praise from everyone. Love this smoker.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Smoke it if you got it!!! I looked at this smoker back in 2018, but decided not to invest in one. My best friend purchased the 14 inch version about month ago. He sent me pictures and video clips of all that he had smoked; one word came to mind, "unbelievable!" So, I shortly dove right in. What a great product! Weber, you truly have a fantastic product! Wow! My pork and beef ribs have never come out better, chicken is ridiculously juicy, sausages have such a smoke-filled flavor and the salmon on cedar planks was tender and flavorful. I am truly looking forward to using this smoker when there's several inches of snow on the ground. I think while my neighbors are shoveling and plowing, the aromatic will make them jealous.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Solid I've owned my 18" smoker for roughly 10 yrs now and have used the heck out of it. The faults are minimal and can be easily overcome with a bit of patience. Initially when bought, the middle section was out of round, Weber immediately shipped a new section and also included a new lid and water pan without question. I've not been disappointed at all. I think that the issues of it being out of round or a few missing parts is to be expected when you consider how many of these things are built and shipped yearly, I was okay with the minor flaws. This thing works like nobodies business and I just bought a slightly used 22" to add to my collection.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Weber Smokey Mountain - Smaller Version We have had ours for 8 years now and can report they weather as well as they cook. Smoked everything from a 16 pound Turkey for Thanksgiving to salmon fillets, ribs, chickens and a variety of vegetable dishes. All turned out absolutely fabulous. If you are prepared to work with charcoal / barbeque brickets the Weber Smokey Mountain is hard to beat in terms of versatilty (you can cold smoke and grill on this puppy too), the quality of the food produced (nothing exceeds it) and reliability (there are no moving parts to break). However, if you don't want to deal with the mess involved with handling charcoal or BBQ briquettes you might be better off going with one of the Masterbuilt electric smokers. I have one of those as well (purchased from Lowes) and appreciate the simplicity of being able to set the temperature and walk away without wondering if the temperature has remained in the sweet spot for the items I'm smoking. I'm very happy with the performance of both of these smokers but give the Weber a slight edge because of the slightly higher quality of the flavor produced in my side-by-side comparisons. Of course that probably reflects the bias of my particular tastebuds.

Rated 5 de 5 de par All I could imagine in a smoker I bought this smoker for my Christmas present 2013. Read all the reviews first and was a bit skeptical at the price (18.5 WSM Still 299.00 everywhere so that says a lot ) Review written August 2014 After my first 2 chickens I did in late Feb. I knew this was going to be all I read about and It is! I have since smoked ribs ,chickens, briskets, pork butts/shoulders. I would have to say its the best for the money. I had mine assembled at Lowes for me to pick up for free. That worked for me! I would have to say for first timers like me to use the water all the time and go to the WSM Virtual Bullet website for all kinds of tips and recipes. Very informative and helpful. You can dry smoke but once you learn how to control the heat and how much charcoal to use its a breeze. The moisture and the "bark" on my brisket and pork butts were soooooo tasty when I used ample water. I am so happy with this thing not sure if I'll go back to my Weber charcoal grill for a while! Oh also I have found a special place in my heart for pecan wood now!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Even an amateur smoker can get good results I’ve had a charcoal smoker before and the Weber is much better. I stopped using the older smoker because it was hard to regulate. The Weber is simple to setup, easy to add charcoal to and easy to control the temperature. Cleaning is easy because of the multi part structure. The cover keeps it clean and the porcelain finish is one of the best on this product. The first smoked product I made was bacon. I took a 9lb piece of pork belly, cured it in a salt, brown sugar and bourbon brine for seven days. When I smoked it I used apple and hickory charcoal and chips. It took about 4 hours and came out excellent.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great smoker Picked up smoker from Lowes and brought home on a Sunday. Started assembly and found out smoker was missing the brackets that support the water bowl and cooking grates. Called Weber expecting a message to call back Monday-Friday during business hours. A representative answered and placed an order to FedEx the parts to me. The parts were on backorder but she said I should receive them in about a week. The parts arrived a week later and I finished assembly and smoked some back ribs. The smoker was easy to use the ribs turned out great. It was easy to maintain a temp in the range 230-250 for the 4 hours I smoked the ribs. Since then I have smoked a chicken and that turned out great too. The smoker comes with a nice Weber cover which fits well and I like the lid thermometer which I can read from inside my house. The only feature I wish it had was a hook on the inside of the lid to enable you to hang the lid on the side of the smoker while checking on the food.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Cream of the Crop Now you can spend over $1K on a heavy duty offset smoker, or <$100 on a Brinkman vertical. But for $300, this is the best homeowner smoker. It'll fit 6 pork butts, or 10 racks of ribs. It'll hold 250° for 10+ hours, the time needed for proper pulled pork or beef brisket. I started off with a Brinkman SmokeNGrill.. It was fine for chicken, ribs, or anything that needed less than about 4 hours of cook time. Due to the design, for anything longer the ash would smother the fire. The Weber solves all the problems that one has with a cheaper Brinkman smoker.. and takes up 1/3 the room of an offset. It's SO good, that I own 2. So.. you can drop $60 on the Brinkman, then spend the $300 later, or just drop the $300 now and save yourself the headaches.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Awsome Smoker Only used it once so far and gearing up to go at it again. Easy to use even for a novice.
Date de publication: 2012-06-23
Rated 5 de 5 de par This smoker can hold a 10 degree range for hours. This thing is amazing hold it holds a consistent temp for hours. We're talking professional grade. Especially is you use a weber chimney to get your coals red hot first. High recommend purchasing an igrill temperature probe system. The temp gauge that comes with the Weber is junk and inaccurate.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Wicked awesome smoker I have had this smoker for a lil over a year now and has never let me down I have smoked all types of meats and being in Boston I have smoked in all types weather from making a pork loin and chicken wings in February during the super bowl to smoking corned beef of ST Patty’s Day to a smoked Turkey on thanksgiving and all kinds of different stuff over the summer this smoker is easy to maintain temp wise and cleaning wise a perfect fit for me into my grilling family I also own kettle grill and a propane grill but must say the flavor this smoker adds to the meat is outstanding make sure u use Webber flavored wood chunks unsoaked for ultimate flavor Thanks

Rated 4 de 5 de par Some issues but the results have been very good. This is my first smoker. The experience using this smoker has been frustrating. I do expect it will get better as I learn to deal with the limitations. The grill size barely fits 2 racks of ribs. I used a rack to stand them on edge. During the 2nd stage some lost liquids. Yes, I knew the 18’ size prior to purchase. Just didn’t know how the ribs would fit. Keeping the fire going, especially during the last hour has been a struggle. I’ve found that when adding charcoal it’s best to light them using a chimney first. Maybe adding them sooner would work. Again, these issues are manageable and I’m confident I’ll develop solutions.
Date de publication: 2020-10-06
Rated 4 de 5 de par Incredible! Worth every penny and very easy to use! Wish I bought this last year before wasting my money on a cheap offset smoker! Definitely recommend for first timers such as myself.

Rated 5 de 5 de par A Great Smoker I bought this smoker after careful thought and much research and I am very happy with it. This smoker has many reviews out in YouTube and videos on how to use it properly. Some of the reviews are by true BBQ pit masters who do competition BBQ smoked ribs and brisket. I like the idea of a charcoal smoker because you truly are doing BBQ versus the electric wood pellet smokers. This was my primary reason to go with this grill. I love the smoke and entire process of this grill. This grill does exactly what it was built to do and then some. I new to smoking foods but after a few YouTube videos I smoked my first two rack of beef back ribs and they came out great!
Date de publication: 2019-12-11
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Smoker!!! Probably the best smoker out there for the price, ease of use, set-up,,etc. You can buy more expensive models but none more capable of taking your BBQ, to include steaks, ribs, brisket, pork, sausage, etc. to a whole new level. Family easy set up, and you're ready to cook. The design ensures that the heat and smoke are controlled and able to last for several hours. This is a really valuable for slow smoking brisket for several hours. Think of buying the 18.5" if you're cooking 2 large briskets (12#) or enough meat for a family. Go to the larger one 22.5" if you're wanting to do larger briskets, etc. The smaller version would be great for camping, or for a couple. Weber makes tons of parts, etc. to support your smoker. Also consider buying a temp probe to monitor meat during the times you're doing a smoke for several hours. Once you get the fire going, meat inside and the lid on you want to leave it and let the heat and smoke do their work. Fight the temptation to pull the lid off and look. Trust the process and let it do it's work. You'll be amazed! Enjoy!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Look at me now!!! I always loved BBQ and smoked food, so I decided to buy a smoker. I researched smokers for weeks and picked the weber 18.5. If I’m going to spend $299 on a smoker, It must have 5 star reviews 90% of the time. So for everyone trying to decide on the 14.5 or the 18.5, this was my input. If I’m going to hang out at home all day waiting for my food to cook, I’m going to pack that smoker with food so I can have left overs for the week or I can invite friends over to eat. So that convinced me to buy the Weber 18.5. I followed the advice of from Harry Soo to break in my new Weber. Do a web search on (seasoning a new weber Smokey mountain pit Harry Soo). After I seasoned my new smoker I did a few test runs with no food and had excellent results. My first smoke was on Super Bowl Sunday and it came out perfect! I smoked chickens and ribs like a pro. Everyone was happy. My next big job is a brisket. This unit maintains heat for hours. Every review was right. I love it.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Thanks to all who reviewed this product After reading all the positive reviews about the Smokey Mountain cooker I finally broke down and bought one. This smoker is everything it is advertised to be. Set up is easy, smoking works like a master. I highly recommend this smoker. You won't be disappointed!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker 18" This is the best smoker I've ever owned. It smokes for hours on very little charcoal. Once I get the temperature dialed in (doesn't take much), I can pretty much walk away until it's time to wrap the meat. On my first smoke I was able to smoke for 12 hours without adding fuel. If you're smoking ribs you might want to get the 22.5 inch model because occasionally I have to cut an end off of a slab. Other than that the 18.5 inch model is perfectly fantastic. Between the upper and lower racks you can cook an amazing amount of food. My last smoke I did 2 racks of ribs and a sizable pork butt. Ate all week and still had to put some in the freezer. Way to go Weber!
