Know before you buy
I purchased this along with matching Whirlpool fridge, stove, & dishwasher and have been using it for 2 years. This microwave is loud when microwaving and also loud when opening and closing the door. The button to open the microwave is hard to push compared to others I've owned and used and the button is already showing wear. Those issues I can live with but the biggest problems I have is that the Digital Numbers are Not all Working and the Start Button is occasionally Not Working. This product is only 2 years old, My family and I have had other microwaves that we've never experienced problems with and only have bought new ones because we've moved.

Great Microwave -- When it works!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are on our 4th microwave of this particular model. The 1st one did not work out of the box. The replacement we received work several months before the door button began working inconsistently. We received a replacement under the warranty. The local authorized service center told me it would be fixable if Whirlpool provided repair parts. The third microwave we received under the warranty, after several months, no longer heated food. However the unit would get very very hot on the top outside of the unit. So far the 4th replacement it working quite well. Thank goodness for Whirlpool standing behind their warranty.

Start button stopped working
We bought a new house 3 years ago, it came with all whirlpool appliances including this microwave which was installed above the oven using an installation kit. About a year ago the display started going out, but it was readable so we didn’t worry about it. Now the start button won’t work and of course it’s not under warranty. Called customer service to see if there are any parts we can order or some way to service it, they said they don’t do that since it’s just a countertop microwave. Now I have to choose whether to buy another whirlpool microwave to match the installation kit and other appliances, or buy something more reliable.

Disapointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have bought whirlpool appliances for the past 26 years but no more. We bought a new house with whirlpool built in microwave and oven four yaers ago. The first microwave lasted one year. We replaced it and the second microwave laste 2 years. We just bought the third whirlpool microwave because we wanted the micro and the oven to match. I can see one microwave being a lemon but three in four years??? However if this one doesn't last it will be the last whirlpool appliance we'll ever purchase. We are now having problems with the oven which will also have to be replaced. Quality is bad, no longer what it used to be.

Major Rust inside of Whirlpool 1200 - 3 years old
We purchased a White Whirlpool 1200 on 1/28/2017. From the very start after every use there was extra moisture left inside, so we started to wipe it out each time. The unit worked OK until we started to notice rust forming on the top of the inside. The last 3 months this has grown in size to about 3 spots the size of a quarter plus rust on the seam in the back on the top. Called Whirlpool their answer was this is just cosmetic and any warranty would not cover it. We did purchase a 5 year warranty with the dealer but this also was cosmetic issue. We also sent in the registration on 2/2/2017 but they could not find any notice of it. Seems like this product should last a bit longer than just 3 years.

2nd model to start chipping paint and rusting
The original version of this microwave came with our new house. The paint on the inside started chipping and rust started to appear after a few years. Eventually we bought a new one and have been careful not to let moisture sit in the microwave. But then today we noticed the pain was chipping on the inside of the microwave again after 18 months of owning it. No rust yet but now that the metal is exposed it's more likely.

Start button doesn't work after a year
This microwave was installed in our home right before we moved in. It did decent job at microwaving, but after 13 months, the extremely important Start button will no longer work. It is now an expensive clock that won't microwave anything just because of one button. If the power goes out, it will just be an expensive hole in the wall, because I won't be able to change the clock.

Right Size For My Space
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was glad to find Whirlpool made a microwave that would fit in my built-in area that doesn't have as much depth as many microwaves require. That, and it's available in white, which many brands don't seem to carry. The interior is easy to clean. I like the 'add 30 seconds' feature. Or hit it twice for a minute, and so on. Comes in handy because (and my reason for 4 stars): Although there are several menu buttons, only the Dinner Plate and Fresh/Frozen Vegetable have sensor cooking. The rest are non-sensor. So for something like the Soup feature, a 16 oz can requires added cooking time.
