Does this work with leaf blower, radio and weedy

Posée par: DollyP
This adapter enables you to use a 20 volt battery to power an 18 volt tool. The batteries supplied with this kit are relatively small in amps and may be best suited for drills/drivers or other smaller tools. It can power other tools but for a shorter period of time.

what does this kit include ?

Posée par: Harrywm
Charger, adapter, instruction sheet, two batteries. After using the adapter, disconnect the battery. Don't leave the battery connected to it for a long time as the adapter will eventually drain the battery.

hi there, does this battery kit (DEWALT DCA2203C 20-Volt MAX* Battery Adapter Kit for 18-Volt Tools) work for 18-Volt 1/2-in Cordless Impact Wrench (tool only)?

It should work in all the older 18volt applications. We are using it in an 18 volt skilsaw, and it works perfect.

Ensemble d'adaptateur de batterie 18 V-20 V est évalué 3.8 de 5 de 271.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Extend life of older DeWalt tools I purchased the 18v-20v adapter about six months ago. Other reviewers have pointed out the adapter is difficult to remove. And, the lithium-ion batteries seem to discharge simply by being left in the adapter. My solution to the discharge issue is to remove the battery when finished using the tool. Despite those issues, the lithium-ion batteries deliver much better performance than the older NiCad batteries. I will be purchasing a second adapter so I have two for my tools.

Rated 5 de 5 de par DeWalt Li Ion Conversion Adapter [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great quality device complete with 2 Li Ion batteries, adapter, and Li Ion battery charger that allowed me to upgrade my existing powerful DEWALT drill from the original heavy NiCad 18-Volt batteries to use much lighter weight new technology Li Ion 20-Volt batteries. The new battery adapter and Li Ion batteries easily and quickly snap into place or release, so I have the option of using my old NiCad batteries as hot spares as well. The bit of added battery voltage is good, and is not an issue, but you must use the included Li Ion battery charger to charge new technology Li Ion batteries.

Rated 2 de 5 de par not recommended I bought this about 8 months ago to replace some 18v batteries I have that wouldnt take a charge anymore. I like dewalt tools and I have many, and this one seemed like a great idea at the time, but a few issues I find is one. I can't wrap my fingers around the battery and the adapter to release it from the tool, so I have to first remove the battery from the adapter, then remove the adapter from the tool. Not real convenient when your in a hurry when you have multiple tools and only one adapter. Also, when I leave the adapter and the battery on a tool, it drains the battery within a day or two. I've tried this on several tools and they all drain it so I don't believe its a tool issue. Also, the battery doesn't last nearly as long when using it as my 18v batteries did when they were newer. In the end, I don't recommend this product and I should have bought replacment 18v batteries instead of buying this.

Rated 5 de 5 de par great product this was a way better option that replacing all my 18v tools. it works as advertised and now i can pick up a couple of the new 20v products as well.

Rated 4 de 5 de par 20 volt Dewalt battery adapter First one I bought had a defective battery. Returned for replacement and the second kit worked great. Drill is lighter and and more powerful. I love it.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Won't hold charge. Less than 30 days old and batteries won't hold a charge. Difficult to install and remove adapter.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Worthless Do not buy. Will run only very limited tools. This from DeWalt. Called them to find out why mine wont run a drill, impact driver or sawzall. Was told can’t run them. Then what good is it? Good idea very poorly executed product. I would even give 1 star but had to. Packaging leads you to think it will work with most tools but it doesn’t. Packaging should clearly state model numbers it will only work with, not leave it to the user to find out most common tools it doesn’t work with.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Gotta Love It The best alternative to the NI-CAD battery. If you are in need of more batteries, this fills the bill. The run time for me is the same in my 18V tools as were the Ni-Cads. The weight difference is enough to make the change. Only thing, I wish I could get the adapter alone now, but I can live with it as is.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Batteries are junk. I bought this battery kit with plans to buy the 20v Dewalt tool set in the near future and then I would have extra batteries and charger. I do not use my tools everyday anymore, maybe once in a week for home projects. I have probably cycled the batteries 10-15 times each. The 20v batteries only last a short while. My 18v batteries actually last longer, probably twice as long and they are 10 years old. The new 20v batteries never fully charge, I can take them off the charger when it says fully charged and only 2 of 3 bars light up on battery. If the batteries sit for more than a day, they are completely dead. I have an 18v Milwaukee impact that I have to resort to when the Dewalt is dead. It has sat over 4 months at a time and still keeps a full charge. I am not sure if the batteries in this kit are different than the ones the real 20v tools come with but they are definitely swaying my decision to switch to another brand of power tools.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Ignore the ignorant reviews I have owned my own construction company for 21 years now and have owned just about every tool out there. Years ago when the 18 volts were the top available I started switching over to that system. Just before the twenty volts came out I added four of the more expensive tools to my rig, the next year the twenty volts rolled out and I stared regretting the purchases. My batteries were starting to show their age so I got some new ones (18v) and got some more life out of the rig. Thinking I had my problem solved for now I carried on with this setup for another 2 years, but then out comes new tools I "must" have that are not available in 18v. When I first saw this conversion kit option I read all I could and was put off by all the comments about how "you need a screwdriver to take them off the tool" or "they don't win any fashion shows for looks" and the price was too high for the risk. Finally my original batteries had no life left leaving me with two good batteries for 9 tools ( the newer ones from two years ago). Feeling like I had no choice left I decided to ignore the "bad" reviews and take a risk that worst case I would have a conversation kit of 20v permanently attached to my main 2 drills and have my two good 18v for the lesser used tools. So I bought 2 adapter kits giving me four batteries and two chargers, around $275 with coupons (I believe the price had gone up recently and was cheaper online but I had In store cards to use up). If you look at how the clips lock and take the battery off first, you can easily with thumb and forefinger pop off the adapter and switch adapters if needed. If you think it's too hard you are doing it wrong and should not be using tools at all! If you are worried about the look stop polishing your tools and get to work, yes it doesn't line up the same its a different shaped battery genius. On my impact drill it sits at a slight angle making it a little more likely to tip but I always set drills on their side so if I knock it over you don't dent a customers cabinet or like item. Ok rant over.... They are lighter and I do notice more power and I'm just using the 2amp so far, I also notice they last longer than the old ones but I am comparing brand new 20s to two year old 18s. Also the batteries charge a lot faster so I don't need to carry the three chargers I was bringing for the 18s, just one for both batteries and the others can stay in the shop. So far I am pleased with the change I just wish I could get adapters for less or have my choice of battery because I would like to try some stronger ones. I haven't tried to see if the adapter fits my impact gun yet but I will try soon and update review.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Works well Good kit, everything needed to allow using Lithium packs on my old drill/light.
Date de publication: 2016-11-09
Rated 1 de 5 de par POOR QUALITY CONTROL [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jumped on this as soon as I saw it because I have 6 or 7 DeWalt 18v tools and am on my 3rd set of batteries. Put it in my drill and it worked great until I went to take it out for another tool and it wouldn't come out because the buttons wouldn't release. Finally got it out and went to use it and it wouldn't come out again. I took it to Lowes and they did not have any more and they had to use vise grips to get it out.
Date de publication: 2019-01-01
Rated 2 de 5 de par Save your bucks..... Purchased this setup in June to use with my angle grinder since it likes to devour the normal 18v batteries. And the adapter was a benefit, or so I thought. Well, these aren't any better than the normal batteries. In fact they're worse. Charge them on Monday, don't touch them until Wednesday and they're dead already. Charge them again, leave them on the bench for a day or two, and again they're dead. My son-in-law is having the same problem.
Date de publication: 2016-11-11
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great add on for my 18v tools I bought this because all of my 18v batteries are getting to the point where they cannot be used charge them for an hour just to get maybe 5 minutes of runtime (if I'm lucky). I didn't want to replace all of my 18v tools because the tools themselves still work. I have had a dewalt 18v drill for going on 10 years now and it still works perfectly fine. It does weigh a little more than the 20v setups but if it ain't broke don't fix it right? I have realized however the 18v tools are going out of production many tools now only allow for the 20v battery setup so this allows me to keep my current setup without having to upgrade and spend thousands for new tools. As time goes on I may upgrade to the 20v but for now it's an added bonus that I can use. I have noticed that I get more power out of this adapter and battery set but then again that's probably because my old batteries are on their last leg.
Date de publication: 2017-02-26
Rated 1 de 5 de par Junk I had the same problem. The charge does not last and one won't charge at all at 3 months old.. The adapter is a bear to remove.
Date de publication: 2018-04-06
Rated 5 de 5 de par Exactly what I needed I've been toying with the idea of getting extra batteries for a while, when I came across this unit but also have the adapter to be able to charge my 18 V batteries and or utilize them with opposite systems 18/20 V this was ideal. Darn good pricing and the same quality you expect from DeWalt.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Best combo kit ever This is the second kit I`ve bought in 2 yrs. If your like a lot of Dewalt owners you have multiple 18 vlt. tools still running good and tired of switching adapters around coupled with the superior performance and light weight of lithium batts. I`m pleased with the kit I havn`t had any of the problems of leaving the batt in and coming back to a dead batt. like in some reviews , but on occasion the batt. would loose charge sitting a few days but nothing to cause concern . As far as the adapter being difficult to remove a gentle touch with a dremel is all it needed. works with all my tools except my circular saw , Oh well they still sell nicads . All in all still a great addition to the tool kit. I hope Dewalt never goes the way most companies have because they are proven jobsite tough . For 20 yrs I`ve bought strictly Dewalt because of the value and quality In their battery and electric tools
Date de publication: 2018-05-18
Rated 1 de 5 de par Battery Failure The batteries included in the 20v Max Battery Adapter Kit For 18v Tools begin to fail after just a couple of weeks. First they will not fully charge, lighting only two of the three indicator lights. After a few months, even with two of the indicator lights lit, an 18v tool will run for just one minute. In addition, even when new, the battery will discharge in one day if left in the tool.

Rated 5 de 5 de par IT,S GOOD I,ve had this for a while now and am glad I got it.It is a great idea to continue using your 18V tools with the new 20V lithium batteries. The batteries last longer and seem stronger.I saw many reviews that said it was hard to insert and remove the batteries and adapter and I agree, it was also for me at the start .I sprayed a little WD40 on the 2 conection points and it was still hard to squeeze them enough to slide it in and out.I took a pair of channel locks [BIG ONES] that I have and used them to squeeze the two points and that worked .After time it became easier to squeeze and I can now do it without much effort with just my fingers. All said and done I am so glad DeWALT came up with this system ,so many times I wanted to to get a tool and it wasn,t available in the 18V system so I wouldn,t get it ,now I can .Thanks DeWALT

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good Idea !!!!! One of the best things that Dewalt has come up with. Anyone that has an 18 volt that wants to update or upgrade should buy this. I hope that they make one for the 12 volt drills before my battery die hint hint.
Date de publication: 2016-09-28
Rated 1 de 5 de par 120 Bucks Worth of Garbage Bought these in July to replace a set of failing 18v NiCad units, anticipating upgrading to some 20v Dewalt products in the future. They work when you first charge them, but if they sit for more than a couple of hours after very minimal use, they're dead. For instance, you can drive 3 or 4 screws, then set the tool down for 3 hours, and when you try it again, the battery is done. Save your money and try something else.
Date de publication: 2019-09-20
Rated 3 de 5 de par Coming from a heavy usage consumer - Disappointing The adapter, once inserted into a tool, is nearly impossible to remove. It comes with 2 batteries. It may as well come with NONE, as that is how long the use is on the pack. It takes twice as long to charge as it does to run out, so you have to plan your job with this in mind - you will need things to do as the other pack is charging and the one currently in use is dead. Yes, I could buy another battery, but how about save us some money and forget the useless batteries? Lesson learned. I am leaving DeWalt after years of using their tools.
Date de publication: 2019-07-07
Rated 1 de 5 de par Worthless Bought this as my 18 volt batteries are on the way out. Neither 20 volt batteries will hold a charge , followed all mfg. instructions. They last for maybe 10 minutes.
Date de publication: 2018-09-23
Rated 1 de 5 de par Bought this kit in late 2018-early 2019 and both batteries are bad already won’t take a full charge and drain within minutes of use. Went to Lowe’s to hope they would replace but say I have to deal with dewalt. Not happy at all. A lot of money to spend on batteries that are junk and I take care of my tools these batteries were not abused and still look brand new
Date de publication: 2021-05-22
Rated 1 de 5 de par Save your money [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Adapter is hard to remove from your tool to move from one to the other. The packs that come the adapter will not take but a 75% charge and after a charge will not last very long. The factory has already replace one battery and now it is on the down hill slide. I bought this about a year ago but have had problems from the start. Pack must stay in a charger all the time or you will not have a charge when you start on your project. Good idea wish it just worked for me.
Date de publication: 2018-11-08
Rated 3 de 5 de par Overheats and stops working or charging I got these to use with my older 18v tools. I liked the form-factor of thes as they are slimmer than the older 18v batteries and they charge faster. BUT here is my problem with them. When I was using them last weekend for an outside project during a hot and sunny north Texas day, they kept overheating when using the sawzall/reciprocating saw or the drill. When they overheat they simply stop working. And when you place on the charger it doesn't charge saying it's waiting... I got around this a few times by placing the batteries in my FREEZER for about 10 minutes then they would work fine even without a recharge until either they ran out of power or they overheated again. They charge fine when I let them sit in the freezer for a few minutes to cool them down first. So if you're planning on using these outside in 95+ temperatures in direct sunlight then be prepared to be frustrated. My guess is that since these are 2Amp ones and they are relatively thin maybe they don't dissipate heat as well as other larger batteries. But either way it's disappointing. Also as others have said it's almost impossible to remove the adapter from your 18v tool without taking the battery off first. Pretty bad design in my opinion.
Date de publication: 2020-09-10
Rated 2 de 5 de par Halfway Worthless - Save Your Money I should have just bought the batteries designed to go with my older18V drill, but they are so dang expensive. So, I tried these adapters so I could use the batteries in a new drill, as well. Charged the batteries up (check), but the adapter on (check), put the battery with adapter in the drill (check), drill powers on (check), works for about 10 seconds and quits. The longest it lasted was 10 minutes. There is obviously a bad connection. The batteries worked just fine in another drill that didn’t require an adapter.
Date de publication: 2021-01-21
Rated 2 de 5 de par More time on charge than in the tools I purchased this battery pack with a new grinder and reciprocating saw, and I used the adaptor with an older Dewalt drill and impact wrench. A fully charged battery only lasts about 90 seconds on the saw or the grinder, and I average 2-3 complete holes with the drill before the charge is depleted. I only use the automatic charger from Dewalt which stays indoors and the batteries are stored in the temperature controlled office when not in use. Figuring there was in issue with the charger, I got a whole new replacement set from Lowes. The new set is exactly the same. I would need 6-8 charged batteries to get any single job completed. I went back to using my 6 year old batteries for the older tools.

Rated 1 de 5 de par What happened? These are not good. Much lighter than the old 18 volt, but I spend a lot of time going back to the charger for a fresh battery. They seem to charge fast but lack power. One battery MIGHT drive 20- 3” screws into #2 pine.

Rated 2 de 5 de par nice batteries, difficult adapter I purchased this adapter and battery kit in an attempt to continue using my older DeWalt tools, which work perfectly. The batteries lose charge quickly so I've learned to remove them from the adapter when not in use. The adapter itself, however, is nearly impossible to remove from the tool without the use of gorilla strength. Holding the tool between my knees and using both hands to remove the adapter is simply not suitable, especially if you're on a ladder, scaffold or some other elevated platform where you risk dropping the tool or yourself to the ground. Extremely poor design. Seems DeWalt's intention was for us consumers to either purchase an adapter for each of our tools or to purchase all new tools.
