Can the heat line be installed inside the water line, NOT on the outside of the water line?

Posée par: lbcowan
No.

I am running two plastic pipes, one hot and one cold water, from inside my home to an out side building with on demand heat only. Can I tape the 2 pipes with the sensor cable together with the heat sensor  on one of the pipes? please advise

Posée par: Henning
No they need to be independently heat traced and insulated so the heat trace can regulate the temperature better

After I install the heat tape, can I wrap the pipes and tape with pipe foam insulation? What is the recommended kind of pipe insulation, foam or fiberglass? (to avoid the risk of fire)

Posée par: JackieSh
we found that there was no reason to wrap the pipes after installation of the heating cable,....but the should be no difference if insulation were to be used.....would recommend the foam....

Posée par: josewales

I been doing a little research into what I can purchase to keep a outdoor 100lb propane tank warm as the cold drop the last few days are causing pressure issues and I wanna know if these would work or if there is something else recommend for that purpose?

Posée par: Austin101

I am wanting to run plastic pipe water line from my cottage to my garage above ground. The length is 75 feet. Do i just attach the heat trace to the pipe and let the pipe sit on the ground? Or does it have to be covered?

Posée par: Lake water

Package indicates the item should only be used on water pipes. I wish to use the item in 3 ft and 6 ft long aluminum 3" x 3" down spout extensions sloped on a 20 degree angle below horizontal and fed from a  GFI. Can I do so?

Posée par: Dave105

can this be used on pvc or pex pipe

Ruban chauffant automatique est évalué 4.4 de 5 de 38.
Rated 4 de 5 de par Does a great job I use this to keep a riser pipe for the water supply to my RV from freezing during the winter. I had to wrap the pipe and tape with a couple layers of aluminum sided bubble wrap insulation, but it's survived a couple of windy 15-degree nights with no problem. I derated the design a little because the thermostat button makes it a little hard to get the first couple of inches of tape to lay against the pipe just right, but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the operation. If using on PVC pipe, I advise you to follow instructions and wrap the pipe with aluminum foil before installing the heat tape.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Saved a Spring Bundle - Frozen Sprinkler Sys. I forget to shutoff and drain the front yard Rain bird sprinkler system until the wife noticed a garden hose still on the valve out near the street. Everything was frozen and no temps above freezing forecast for the next week. Lowe's had the Pipe Heater Cable in stock. I installed it per the instructions and wrapped a towel around everything and covered it with a cardboard box. The next morning everything was thawed and I drained the garden hose and system. No cracked pipe or valve this year. Worked great. I put it back in the package until next time I get busy and forget to drain everything again. Grove, OK

Rated 5 de 5 de par Pipe savers! These heating cords are pipe savers for sure! Thanks to the extreme cold we have had recently, I have had several frozen water pipes. No one wants to try to fix plumbing issues when it's -10 outside. After fixing the first busted pipes, I invested in three heat cords. Easy to attach to your plumbing. I have them at both ends of my house(which seem to be my trouble spots), and have one for my drain also. Overkill? Maybe, but I won't have to worry about playing in the ice water to fix a busted pipe again ;). They have a light that comes on when they are plugged up so you know they are on. I can see the lights on mine from my crawl space door. That saves you from checking them by feel! So far they are keeping my water flowing. I highly recommend them!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Lifesaver First let me say it worked in less than two hours. While waiting I called technical support to ask how long it would take to thaw my frozen pipe. I was told that the product was not designed to thaw pipes, only prevent them from freezing. Sixty minutes later the sound of flowing water met my ears. This product WILL thaw a frozen pipe in an unheated crawl space with an outside temp of 17F. You will need to purchase a roll of electric tape to secure the wire to the pipe.

Rated 4 de 5 de par If it works in Canada - it'll work anywhere! We live in Alberta, Canada and our winters can fall to below -50 degrees Celsius and colder with the windchill. Hasn't been quite that cold yet this year but our water froze up on Christmas Eve and it turned out that our original Easy Heat tape had been chewed through by some type of critter. We replaced it, and within an hour we had glorious running water again! I will say that the one issue I have with these is that the indicator light on the cord does not shut off when there is damage to the cord. We assumed the heat tape was fine because the indicator light was still on - don't rely on this! We had to manually feel the pipe under the insulation to find that it was frozen solid.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Pipe heat cable, read instructions Just zip tied the heat tape to the water pipe. Basement water pipe touches the concrete wall so too cold. Read the instructions since that little bump needs to touch the pipe. It is the sensor so it comes on when needed. So far water is fine.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Going with the flow. After several days of temperatures in the teens during the night I was just tired of frozen pipes to my shop. I purchased and installed the pipe heat cable. The installation instructions are the only thing I have found lacking. I have found that a good electrical tape and tie wraps work well. I have had NO frozen pipes since the installation.
