ULTRACOLOR PLUS FA
Description
Ultracolor Plus FA avec technologie DropEffect est un coulis sans efflorescence, sans retrait, de couleur uniforme, modifié aux polymères, à prise rapide, avec agrégat fin et de qualité supérieure. Il convient aux joints d'une largeur de 1,5 mm à 19 mm (1/16" à 3/4"). La technologie DropEffect réduit l'absorption en surface afin d'aider à repousser l'eau et les saletés pour les empêcher de pénétrer dans les joints de coulis. Ultracolor Plus FA est spécialement formulé avec la technologie d'hyperhydratation cimentaire (HCTMC) de MAPEI afin d'éliminer les problèmes couramment associés aux coulis à base de ciment Portland, tels que l'inégalité de la couleur et l'efflorescence. En plus d'offrir une teneur plus élevée en polymères, la technologie d'hyperhydratation cimentaire se traduit par une absorptivité réduite et une meilleure résistance aux taches par rapport aux coulis cimentaires de qualité standard. Offert dans un format de 4,54 kg.

NOT for glass tiles
We had picked a Mapei grout color for our kitchen project with a glass tile backsplash and new quartz countertop. When I was actually ready for the grout, the color is NOT available and discontinued in the Unsanded grout. I contacted MAPEI directly and was told that this 'new' product was to replace unsanded grout. I was hesitant at first so was lucky to find an opened bag at 50% off and did a mock up sample. Guess what, it scratches the glass tiles.
Do not use this product on glass tile and suggest spending a bit of time and money and doing a sample first. I could've ruined 60ft2 of backsplash due to misleading product info.

Color not as expected
Grout was easy to mix and apply. Having applied many types and color of grout over the years with good to excellent results with color as expected, I was truly dismayed at the final color. When the grout was first applied it was a total match to the built in "grout" color in the tile. As a matter of fact it was very hard to tell that I didn't get the excess grout wiped of the existing grout on the tile. When the grout began to dry I realized I needed to do a fourth wipe down as I could see that there was still excess grout on the tiles. It then became clear that the grout was turning out to be a different color than stated and pictured on the package. It dried out to be more of a Bisc color. Not wanting to spend countless hours grinding out the grout I have ordered a product to color the grout to the color it should have been to start with. Extremely short working time!!!
I am a huge Mapei fan. I purchased this product to do a tiled accent wall in a bathroom. It is easy to spread and as per the directions, the joints stayed workable in the allotted time. I began to clean in the 15 minute time frame. There is no problem with residue or haze but the product must be wiped 2 to 3 times the amount of other grouts in order to be removed completely. It takes quite a bit more time to clean than even epoxy grouts. It is very easy to clean, but very time consuming if that makes sense. In addition to longer cleaning times, applying to a vertical surface meant for a slower application. I mixed the entire 10lb. Bag and was able to apply about 2/3 of it before it set up rock hard in the bucket. I was indoors, approximately 70 degrees and 40 percent humidity. Under those conditions I had about 40 minutes of open time. I mixed half bags in order to complete the wall. Finished product is even and beautiful but I will not be using this product in the future. It is very unforgiving as far as time is concerned, especially on vertical surfaces. If you do purchase, work quick and consider mixing half bags at a time if you anticipate going over 30 to 40 minutes. In my opinion you are better served to go over on application time in order to get the product out of the bucket and into the joints. The grout sets up firm within 20 minutes but can still be shaped using a fairly wet sponge. Again I want to emphasize that haze and clean up after the initial joint shaping cleaning are in no way an issue. Comes off completely, just takes several passes.
