Super easy to use, solid feel, smooth cut
For years I postponed buyi g a. Electric plane as I was worried about lack of depth control. Finally, when a deck building project had me leveling multiple joists I took the risk. The Bosch is a nicely weighted and balanced tool and very simply adjusted. Starting the cut was easy and controllable, which alleviated my largest worry. The cut is smooth and maintained consistent depth without gouging, which alleviated my other worries. I'm glad I finally bought a planer, and this Bosch was the right choice. Precise
This planer is very percise. I purchased it to replace a PORTER CABLE planer that had to be returned for uneven planing. The planer feels good and did a great job planing 12 foot redwood 2x4’s. The alignment attachment is very solid. The hex key that inserts into the planer for blade changes is very convienient. The planer is $50 more than the Porter Cable I returned, but well worth the price. I thought the single blade would be a disadvantaged but it worked great for the redwood 2x4’s. The planed surfaces required no sanding.

Bought to prep pallet wood...
Bought it to surface prep pallet wood to make interior molding in my log home. Took it out of the box and tried it out on my interior logs (former owner painted them for some reason) to prep for staining. It's fast, smooth, and more than I expected from a single blade. There's obviously going to be lines between passes on wide wood, but it's easily sanded. The picture shows 4 total passes and took less than a minute. That same surface area would take 4-5 minutes with my dewalt sander.

Worth the money spent
This planer worked very well right out of the box. Easy to adjust for depth. I was able to accomplish my task quickly and easily with this planer. I really like the pivoting electric cord. It did not hang up on me once. I was planing the edges of 8 foot 2 x 8's and had no problems. I rated it at good consistently as I have not had experience with other brands. I would recommend this to a friend.

Planing Magic
I had some flooring to do in a renovation and some of the transitions had some high spots where the plywood subfloor ends met each other. It was going to require quite a bit of sanding (dust and time) to get the areas leveled out. I had heard of the handheld planers and thought I would give it a try. I am extremely glad I did! I countersunk the nail heads and the planer made short work of leveling out adjacent surfaces with the threshold only taking a couple of minutes to complete. You can set the tool at different depths to fine tune your material removal as well, which is nice. I also have some window casings to do and am looking forward to using this newfound gem to do those as well. Highly recommend! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This tool is very good. I have used it for a hand full of project around the house. The blade is very sharp and durable. It leaves a very clean and smooth cut! The motor is very powerful and even powers through hardwood. The dial is very helpful and easy to use. The feel and quality of this tool is exactly what you would expect from Bosch! You end up looking for projects to use this on. Highly recommend this planer for both DIY and PRO

Great for trimming doors
Bought this product at the last minute to help parents loosen up a tight sliding patio door. Never operated one before and found this tool very easy to use. Bag for catching chips is adequate for small jobs and seems to catch most of the debris easily.
